Savoury cheesecake on... Wait for it... A bed of toast crumbs!!! Stay calm Mrs. B"Yup. It only sounds nuts because people normally associate cheesecake with sweetness, but butter, cheese, cream, bacon, are all things that are used all the time in savoury cooking. Replace the biscuit base with a toast crumb one, make an unsweetened cheesecake mix, season it with black pepper, layer it with strips of cooked smoky bacon and leave it in the fridge overnight so the cream in the cheesecake mix absorbs all the savoury flavours and loses its own natural sweetness, and you've got an unusual but very tasty treat to serve up I use it as a starter with a little rocket and red onion marmalade on the side. Small wedges. It's pretty unhealthy, but as a rare treat... Yummmmmm | |||
