Myself and the Mrs are trying to get out to do a bit more socialising so we need a babysitter. Any idea of the going rate from 9pm-1am for example ?

Thanks in advance

Think it depends on who is doing it! A relative or family friend would probably accept £30/€35.

It could be an overnight stay which adds up but you wouldn't have to rush home

Max is a tenner an hour and they should be cleaning and doing the dishes for that, as well as minding kids.

Otherwise 7-8e an hour

Definitely the lower fee, if they don't drive and you have to taxi them home

That's very expensive.. That's like a professional charging around €35 inc. tax.

€25 per hour .. I'll take up myself ????

I haven't heard of anyone doing it for less that €15 an hour for years. And those are just teenagers. Adults usually get more. I guess it varies from one area to the next.

You need to tell them that you're only giving 8e an hour, unless they're cleaning up as well, then 10e an hour.

Did you babysit when you were younger? Lucky to get 3punts an hour then and the house better be spotless on the parents return, with kids happy abed!

Mature ppl charge more then under 20s but if you have young children you probably would want someone with experience my friend pays 20 euro a hour for a lady but she has a young child so feels more at ease but its a monthly treat

These are just lunatic prices. I think anything more than the minimum hourly rate for baby sitting is ridiculous.

What does a baby sitter do/bring to the table to justify anything above minimum hourly rate?

Depends on the babysitters age tbh, my daughters friend was thrown €30 for minding 4 kids under 10 including a baby - and expected to stay overnight so the parents didn't have to get up because they were so hungover

Anyone who pays €100 for 4 hours is a fool. Extensive family here. I know the rate and it’s not €100 up here. Maybe you lot down south driving around in ur Ferrari’s on the EU funded roads can fork that out but up here, us poor, without government northerners have to feed our family for a month with that cash and use the change for condoms for our multiple fab meets.

For an adult yes, for a teen 25-30 euros should be fine IMO. But it depends on the number of kids and I wouldn't leave a young teen minding a child under one.

That's 25-30 euros for around 4 hours, not per hour

There’s a site who lists registered childminders/babysitters in your local area. It’s 15 euro an hour roughly plus extras for overnights etc. lucky to even find one in my area so I only get out when they’re with their dad. Enjoy your night out xxx

Was this comment even necessary in all fairness. For us lot down south It's a simple chat on paying babysitting.

Ps I drive a focus on eu funded roads. But I'm building a Lego Ferrari does that count

I'm talking about babysitter that cares for your children until the next morning when you have recovered from the night out so 100 would be about 10 euros per hour including nappies and feeling if you have babies

Schooldays.ie

"A qualified childminder over 18 years old with experience in childcare will expect more per hour than a teenager. By looking at our schooldays.ie forums, we believe that currently the approx cost for a sitter is between 5-8euros and hour for sitters (under 18s) and between 8/10 euro and hour for those over 18 years and or who are qualified."

Examiner (2015):

"Fees vary considerably depending on location — babysitters in Dublin can expect to receive a nightly rate of €45, or €10.50 an hour, compared to €32 in Limerick, or €7.10 an hour.

The hourly rate in Cork is €9.75 and the nightly payment is €40. In Galway, the hourly rate is €8.10 and the nightly rate, €38."

Everymum.ie:

"A babysitter can be offered anything from €5 per hour to €15 per hour. I would recommend paying a minimum of €8 for under 18’s, €8-€10 for over 18’s and anyone with professional experience and qualifications should be paid a minimum of €10 per hour."

I think if you pay anything more than the usual rates, the person has to bring some related qualifications to the table to justify it.

So you're paying the baby sitter 10 euro per hour for sleeping in the case of overnight?

I don't have kids myself. In addition to working full-time, I baby-sat on a regular basis at night for various families into my 30s. I had more bookings than I could handle, and was getting 15-20 an hour in the last few years that I did it.
