"Are phones ruining friendships and relationships? I resently went out for a friend's birthday. There were 6 of us having dinner. Now while I had my phone woth me I wasn't on it constantly but everyone else at the table was. They were constantly taking pics of everything from the their drinks to dessert. When they weren't taking photos they were scrolling mindlessly through their phones. They missed half the conversation. I just sat there thinking what's the point. As for my friends husband well he never left his phone out of his hand. He came across as irritated every time someone tried to include him in a conversation. My friend didn't seem to notice either. " ------------ Double edged sword really.. Phones & technology are allowing people to get together who normally wouldn't have just a generation ago. "Out of interest, what age bracket are we talking about here? So many people are obsessed with taking photos of their meals for Instagram or snapchat. Shockingly bad " Ages ranged from 28 to 35

"It's like going to a concert and watching the entire thing through a tiny phone screen as you record it rather than immersing yourself in the experience as it happens ![]() Yah that's my point. I really don't get it. What happened to living in the moment.

"We have a no device around the dinner table rule at home, or when out, kids included. We "try" to limit the amount of time ours spend on phones or tablets. But we also use it to our advantage too. Bad behaviour and attitude have consequences. We've found saying you wont get this or wont get that has little or no effect on them, but "ok thats 10mins less on your evening time allowance online" or "keep it up and we will see what happens this evening" works wonders. The modern day equivalent of going to bed with no supper " I'd he the same at home. They are allowed very little screen time and when naughty I reduce the screen time.

"Be responsible guys, people are runing their own lives by choosing their phones.. dont blame the inanimate object or substance like governments and institutions want to.. if you see someone on their phone and you think its not right open your mouth and enjoy the connection of debate, its easy to judge afterwards" I'd always say to my friends.

"People look at theirs phone and think others have a better life than them, instead of living their own life. " So true. They don't realise that people only show you what they want you to see.

"I think a sign of a great night out is not a single photo to remember it by. You should be too busy having fun to be on your phone " Love this and it's so true. It better to be in the moment.

"It's an addiction plain and simple. If you need to look at your phone when hanging out with friends then you have a problem. I don't mean checking when you get a message,I mean when you can't just forget about your phone. I saw a couple out for a meal recently and both of them were looking at their phones between courses. The problem isn't the phones, it's who's using them." It's crazy really. I have friend who lets her son on his phone all the time. He will litterly sit on his phone while eating. I know it shouldn't but it drives me nuts

These days parents allow their children to watch tv or movies at very early age... I've seen few days ago at the airport just few months baby (less than a one year old!) was watching the movie in tablet. Horrible! ![]()
