Ive always thought if it arrived at my door I'd be open to polyamory, i have great fantasies of me, the hubby and another woman living all together in one big sexy bed but after last nights tv show I've completely ruled that out. The show couldnt seem to find any successful polyamory partnerships and the participants seemed so sad. Polyamory is just a slow divorce. Stick with the no strings attached approach which btw has been going really really well so far nsa is hot!!

My question is really for experienced happily married couples who swing; do you think its important to keep it NSA? Where's the line between nsa and connection/chemistry?

We keep the line between sex and emotional involvement by not creating a separate relationship with other parties - we don't meet alone and all chatting via kik or here is done in a group. Our relationship with each other is our priority at all times, to me (fem) any intimacy I created with someone else excluding Lee would be a nail in the coffin for our relationship. It's a slippery slope.

I have yet to see any evidence that it can work in the 3 years been on here and having met people on the scene a lot longer, they have nothing but horror stories.

Nsa is the only way. I have no interest in Gemma having candlelit dinners or walks in the park in the rain with anyone other than me.

I am willing to let her fuck people though

While I agree with the statement that kept coming up in Louis thereauxs documentary last night about we are responsible for our own happiness and emotional state, it came across as a bit of a cop out for the people who had extra partners to do whatever they wanted. I don't think all poly couples are like this. I just don't think it was portrayed very well in this documentary.

is the difference between Swinging & Poly, that in Swing it is NSA, sex with no emotional involvement, whereas in Poly it is sex with an emotional involvement, but the emotional in movement of all in the poly relationship.

I felt last nites program was more akin to Cuckhold with emotion.

in 2 cases the women were clearly in control & the men, not wanting to lose a relationship, seemed to just go along with whatever kept the woman happy.

in Sister wives the guy is very much in control like some sort of tribal leader, the women seem happy that they have the kids, roof over the head , emotional support & some sex... but a relationship is more than just sex.

although if it is going wrong in the bedroom!!!

Well I (male) had similar ideas as OP about polyamoury when another woman was living with us when we were very young, didn't get past theoretical stage but did lead to lots of research which lead to us swinging and having lots of fun!

We have had long swinging relationships with three couples that went on years, never exclusive but often all we had going on. There were No Strings Attached (is that NSA?) but we definitely all cared about each other and still do. Longest ago couple emigrated, middle one I never understood and current one is ongoing and the most NSA and probably most sustainable so work that one out!

And we've had one recent meet that was 2000% NSA but you'd just want to put the couple in your pocket and bring them home and give them a big cup of tea and a book on polyamoury and see what happens!

After studying polyamory in depth the only good thing I got out of it is the term/concept of "compersion" which is a sort of compassion and getting enjoyment that your partner is finding even more joy in their life through more love.

Polyamoury is about love, swinging is about sex. It can be a spectrum you move on if you want.

I met a couple from America and they brought another woman into their bed to have a baby. I think in the end there was a lot of jealousy on the part of the lady that came in and not from the wife. it did not work . I know another couple he has his ladies and she has her guys I think .

Always worth remembering too that while polyamory is a lifestyle, being polyamorous can be the way you're wired. Just like you can be a lesbian but not have a girlfriend you can be polyamorous but not be living it full on.

It's worth noting that polygamy tends to be practised in highly patriarchal societies where women are expected to always defer to the male. .

Lol why does the idea of that turn me on!!! Especially as i consider myself an equalist. Anyway fantasy rarely lives up to reality.

I wouldn’t consider him to be an impartial documentary maker, he is making a program to shock and entertain the viewers I doubt that they would be much of a story showing a happy poly couple whose life is great

There are similar shows that say swinging as a couple doesn’t work either??

Having said that I think the dynamic could be very interesting and possibly stressful, think about 3 people trying to agree on anything ??
