Camping in Ireland

Hey! Kids and I love camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities. I'm not Irish, live there about a year and have no idea where to go

Can someone recommend a good place to go? I do not bother about WiFi. We just want to be a close to the nature. Far away from the civilisation

Thank you!

cork

Spent a few summers down in Allihies in west cork. Very quiet, camp site about 2 minute walk from the beach and a nice little village. Many summers spent in Banna in Kerry too when we were younger. Great beach and hotel complex right next to camp site.

The West

West Cork is a great spot, there’s a family friendly campsite called Eagle Point near Bantry which is lovely.

where the wild roses grow

Camping parks are not as popular as they used to be, its all about mobile homes these days however I would recommend;

Morris Castle in Wexford, beautiful coastal site right beside Curracloe beach where Saving private Ryan was made.

Fitzmorris in Tramore is basic but you benefit from the multiple surf schools there.

If you have young kids Hidden valley in Wicklow is very good but pricey.

Cara and Cong in Mayo are grand.

Lough Ennell in west meath is cheap and you can rent boats for fishing or simply fish on the lakeside.

Dunmore east is lovely.

Lough crew for a one night job is great for a visit to the megalithic tomb

I could go on but they are the 1st few to spring to mind

Thank you All!

It's time to check the equipment and plan the weekends

PS We like proper camping close to the nature. It is such a fun assembling a tent! Lol

South Side.

Don't tell anyone,, but the best campsite in Ireland is on Inisheer, one of the Arann islands. Its on the beach, beside the village, and there is a dolphin which swims along the beach every day. There are very few cars on the island so very safe for kids. And it's easy and cheap to get there by ferry.

If you want to completely switch off and take in some truly majestic scenery try Cape Clear...it's a summer destination though. Some great camp sites there

If you have tons of cash tipi adventures is amazing. River hollow is kind of wild camping but on a site but you can light your own fire for cooking on & it’s only a tender a head.

Sherkin island is beautiful in the summer. Nature at its finest.

Or Roberts cove. It’s only a short drive from the city. Pm me if you want to know more
