Raises folk's profile and gives them a wee confidence boost.

It'a nice when someone appreciates your pics but asking for Fabs just seems a bit desperate to me.

Every photo that is fab'd gives a small release of dopamine in the brain. Same chemical released that can lead to addiction in a wide variety of other aspects of peoples lives.

The algorithm ranks accounts with higher engagement. So if your pictures are getting a lot of fabs, your account will organically be shown to more users.

That and narcisism.
