Well is there such a thing

I've recently joined, didn't know there was an actual forum till a couple of days ago.

Found myself constantly reading it trying to work it out.

Do you find this place addictive , is it healthy, should I resist before it completely takes over , owns my soul ?

No it is not a healthy place

Talking to anonymous strangers has to be the biggest waste of good time there is

Some people spend their lives here

your imagination

Nope... I enjoy the Forums (and Fab in general) when I've the time and inclination. Lately it's been quiet at the office so I've pottered about on it a bit more lol. But it's a diversion, and I often don't bother with Fab for months. Family, friends, work and real life in general take precedence. If you're logging on while in other people's company rather than taking to them, or passing up/missing out on spending time with people who are (or should be) important to you in order to follow Fab pursuits, that's when you know there's a problem.

Short answer is if you feel it is taking over your life or your soul then yes stop

Really though after a week or two you will see the same trends in the posts amd alot of repeated threads and comments and you will probabky become more selective about the threads you read/follow/post on.

Its a great way to kill a bit of time

I enjoy the craic that can be had on the forums, they're the main reason I come on here!

The threads can get a little 'samey' but I've made so many great friends through it that I don't care

Forums are fun in small doses but there's no fear of being addicted as...

Originality is very rare these days

Such topics as "good morning" "I can't get a meet" or "rate my profile" are usually a last ditch stand to get attention & a possible coffee meet

Now, on the English forums they talk about SEX, FANTASIES and SWINGING (I know, I know... was as gobsmacked as you to discover that ) whereas here we talk about everything BUT fecking swinging (fav biscuits, Fab bar, SOCCER...)

So, just like joining a group of new people in a pub, forums are only as amusing, entertaining, exciting or addictive as the collective comments of those using them

But its so very different to the way you use the forums. Do you not enjoy your time on here?

As with everything, it's what you make of it. If you use it as a platform for light entertainment while striking up friendships or fun acquaintances, then it's a positive.

If on the other hand, you approach it with a bitter viewpoint, you will most likely find it increases a sense of dissatisfaction that somehow permeates all aspects of your life, but don't worry, it can always be blamed on others.

Border Area

From my perspective...

- yes, fab forums can be addictive. Why for me? Because the odd time they are great craic and so there are nights i will spend frantically hopping back and forward through them trying to keep up with the wags. Was much better a few years back but they still have their moments now and will literally leave me in tears laughing. Rovers DIY one was one such recent..

- No, they are not appropriate to the ‘true’ nature of fab, which is swinging and sex. TT put this much more eloquenrly than I earlier in the thread. I think its our Irish slant

- Yes, there are many annoying people here, many bitter prople, many one trick ponies who post the same thread over and over again... but there are also some very nice people, some really funny people, some sharp sarcastic people and some really smart people with profound and often mind blowing things to say.

This is what makes the forum facinating and addictive.

Too addictive at times. I’m 4hrs ahead and for the nights its fun i’m not getting to sleep to 3am..!!

Its not addictive to me, I left and basically did not miss it at all. I sometimes forget about this site for a week or a month at a time.

Is it healthy? Its not healthy or unhealthy. The latest research says having a good breakfast has a more positive impact on your day that a compliment on social media, and a bad breakfast has a worse affect on your day than a negative comment.

Overall it has a less than 1% affect on your mental health.

It just gives people with negative mental health something to look at all day, removing it, does not remove their negative health etc etc etc.
