If BAM are offering to cooperate with the gov re not building then they have it in the bag. Noway they would make rhat offer unless it was lucrative

You can imagine the penalties that BAM would impose on the government for pulling the plug, plus what would they do with the site

Should the site realistically have been ever picked. Outside Dublin would have made more sense

It chuid bé used as an extension to the existing hospital.

The location was always going to be problematic to me. City centre construction is always going to be more expensive than outer areas. There's so many problems with access, parking, etc. Blanchardstown would've been far better. The idea was that it had to be co-located with an adult teaching hospital but as we now know we could've had a new adult hospital as well as a new children's hospital for not much more than this fiasco is going to cost.

Not a chance. Never ever was a government held responsible for their disasterous decision making and bad management. Why should it be different this time?

Should never have been picked. They were offered a green field site near Newlands Cross for FREE and never took it. That alone tells you the type of plebs involved in the decision making processes up there.

Someone's hand was greased to make sure that site was picked, there should be an inquiry to establish who gained from having the hospital in the city centre

An enquiry that would probably cost another 20 million, and nothing would be found out and no-one held accountable! It would nearly make ya laugh if it wasn’t so sad , that is the supposed democracy we are living in!

I got two words for ya.

“Mahon tribunal”

Took a colossal amount of time, cost millions and only a few councillors got done - the big political fish got away.

Same thing would happen again. We all know the planning corruption that goes on but it will never change.

Did anyone go to prison?

I don't think so.

UK after the financial crisis in 2008. Within a year they were having trials and the people responsible were put in jail for a bit.

Too much old boy network still exists here and gives me more reason to vote for Sinn Fein every year (haven't yet but I'm close).

What about that HP Leixlip site that was sold a few months ago?

Was designed to be repurposed for a hospital in the blink of an eye!

Rail an road links and a 200 acre site!

Why wasn't that the perfect location??

Beggars belief

Did you really expect anything different. It's the same as always here in Ireland. The country needs another revolution. It'll never happen though because they have everyone where they want us.

If the government go it’ll only be replaced by the same monkeys under a different circus name, as for the hospital builders they’ll pull out change their name an go for it again
