Junk food and kids

This is a bit of a weird one. My gf has a kid and I have to say, I am shocked really at the diet. I don’t know what the diet is at home as we don’t life together. But today we were away and between 11am just after breakfast a five year old has been given 2 full size KitKats and two full size wafer bars with a few odd sweets thrown in. I can never remember getting that kind of treatment when I was a kid (maybe I did but I don’t think so). Would I be to strict if we are out for two days?

Both my kids are not allowed junk food at all. Sugar just makes tantrums worse

You mightn't have a choice but you do have options.

Get the Tom Kerridge - How to Lose Weight for Good book and make a few of the sweet treats, so you have them to hand. Pick the right ones and you'll be happier that they're getting something they like, without realising it's got at least 2 of their 5 a day in it

We find forcing our kids to eat the vegetables we like can be a real nightmare, we now just give them plenty of the fruit and veg they do like. If they dont like asparagus, we dont give them asparagus.

But if your really struggling for them to get their five a day

Mommas special soup. Loads of the stuff they'd never eat, blitzed in a blender, then severe. They'd shit themselves if they knew what was in it

Every kid loves a spag-bol, same thing, blend it all in with the sause

My town

When I was growing up chocolate and sweets was given as a treat on very rare occasions if I got a glass of pop I thought I'd won the lottery... schools are trying to promote healthy eating and in my daughters school it's only aloud healthy eating with nothing except water or fruit and carrots.....
