We are on course for a general election over the next year, so i have no doubt the usual pawns will be rolled out for special mention, the public service are getting increases in March, 20million ringfenced for nurses..

Care workers should get the pay rise, after all they're left to do all the dirty work in the end, look after us clean up after us prepare meals when we can't do it for ourselves anymore, wipe are asses, bath us etc etc unreal the work they do for the little pay they get, the system is all fucked up, something that does grind my gears is people who moan about other families being on benefits and having this and having that, people should do what's best for there families never mind worrying about having a "job" title next to there names simply out of pride with there families going without and struggling to make ends meat because this job title is so important. I know If I was payed more on benefits than my job i wouldn't hesitate to be straight down to the dole, this world's gone crazy with people worrying way too much of what others think. Sorry my rant for the day

Am I not allowed to have an opinion? Anyone who has any dealings with hospitals will agree with me. Nurses are run of their feet.

They should get a rise, however they are still going to be run off their feet, that’s the catch 22.

For new people starting out the money is brutal thats why most emigrate where they will get favourable conditions..rent is too expensive in ireland for starters never mind other living costs

So it needs to be more attractive for them to stay! If the wages and working conditions.i.e. More of them..were better, more might be inclined to stay or return.

I don't begrudge nurses better wages.

What I might have an issue with is giving more of my income back to fund this pay increase.

I don't see why anyone gives a shit what someone else is paid in principle.

When it comes down to financing it though....

Absolutely agree but I'd be happier paying towards higher nurses wages than useless county councillors, senators and TDs salaries and pensions

Craigavon

I work as a carer in a nursing home I work 12hr shifts on my feet all day I love my job and I go home at the end of the day knowing that I have hopefully made some difference to the patients that I look after but yes the pay is crap I get the minimum wage for my age group while someone younger than me gets £9ph for putting groceries through a checkout or stacking shelves think this government need to wake up to themselves and realise what is important to people surely someone trying to keep people alive should earn more than someone stacking shelves (Not that I'm saying it's any of a lesser job)
