And they could probably offer some good advice on footwear etc.

Wouldn't want to be tearing up the roads in your Chuck Taylor's

Ive trained a friend down over 2 stone not being able to run 1.5mile without stopping to finishing half marathons, marathons etc. Would need to know your level before giving you proper advice.

Without sounding smart get the runners on and get out the door

( thats the hardest part a lot say ye ill do it tomorrow and tomorrow never comes)

Give yourself a few targets starting off use the app if you want or my advice join a running group or athletics group. Always better to run with someone as its way to easy to stop by yourself

Running a long time now and still hate running solo

Also sign up to a run and tell family friends about it as then you wont want to take the slagging if you back out lol

Hey I trained for this recently. I started walking/ jogging as in I walked approx 500metres and jogged until was breathless and kept repeating for 5km. When I felt really breathless I would just walk. However I shocked myself one day and kept pushing myself and completed the 5km it took roughly a month and a half. I jogged/ walked 3 days a week as body needed time to heal. I swam on the days I didn’t jog and had 1-2 rest days per week! Good luck on your venture ! Hornylittle here x

I went from nothing and being a fat slob to running a half marathon in the wicklow mountains in 5 months. Started with trying to run a full 5k, was walking/running in beginning, once did that I upped the distances and learned to pace better (spotify bpm music!) What worked for me was keeping track of my times for the 5k and trying to get faster each time. Once I was running 5k comfortably upping the distance was easy.

"What is a good 5k time for a average guy "

Any time is good the only battle you should be having is yourself and your mind. Dont be worrying about time it will come and go depending on the day and how you feel

I suppose if you are pushing it though anywhere between 20 and 30 mins is good running.

Biggest thing about time is end up not listening to body and picking up injury.

Couch to 5k app on a treadmill is how I started as I didn't have the confidence to run outside but an organised one might help motivate
