I think Brian kerr should be brought back and allowed to bring in the academy he wanted to do but wasn't backed financially

Stephan kenny would be my pick. I know he's not managed at international level but he knows the league of Ireland inside out and has done so well with dundalk the past 3 or 4 years. But in fairness the shambles Irish soccer is in at the moment ...who would want the job?!

My pick too, time and time again he has had his best players poached, he never complained, he just got on with it, brought new players through and got the best out of them.

That's what Ireland needs, there was a time when players would play their best football in a green Jersey and we need to go back to that.

Fai is a shambles. Someone needs to be answerable, that should be Delaney. He doesnt do interviews, doesnt do press conferences because, god forbid, someone would ask him a difficult question. The FAI AGM is a farce. No open discussions or Q and As. Just john delaney trying to convince everyone that he is as great as HE thinks he is.......meeting over . I dont think ireland need a big name manager, i would love to see kenny get the position. If ireland played the type of football that dundalk have played over the last few years i think there would be a lot less empty seats in the aviva. Actually if Dundalk were to play Ireland tomorrow i would not be confident putting money on Ireland. ......... sorry rant over. And today actually started pretty well. Fkn FAI lol

McCarthy wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea,but there's not a lot of quality around the Irish squad at the moment,and he would get the best out of them!...If Stephen Kenny wants the job I would give it to him,a rookie at that level, but Irish soccer has nothing to lose!.... But please no foreign coach just coming along to pick up a fat pay cheque!

The FAI do not have the large pockets and assistance they had previously to lure bigger name's so bearing that in mind they will look to fill the vacancy from a pool of managers who are either out of a job at present or the likes of Kenny or Lennon who would be cheap to pry away in terms of compensation required.

The managers presently out of work however are often out of work for good reason.Big Sam,Steve Bruce and Mick McCarthy.McCarthy is well regarded by the FAI and has had some success previously so may be an option for them.personally Id like to see Slaven Billic given a chance of the job,he would bring abit of technical ability to the squad and encourage more possession. The squad may be limited but defensively is quite strong so it's about trying to create a system that will allow players to attack and retain possession whilst also keeping a shape that defensively we are strong. The likes of Greece previously won the Euros with a simple gameplan as did Leicester in the premiership. We cant just delete the strong defensive work he bought in (aside from denmark at home and Wales away we have been solid but offer nothing going forward).

Knowing the FAI they will likely go McCarthy,Big Sam or Kenny.This group of players are weaker than many of the teams gone past however.

The pool of players we have are absolutely abysmal.

It will take a miracle for someone to improve that bunch.

Part of me wants Stephen kenny to get a shot, worked wonders at Dundalk. Knows loi players. Something new to shake things up. What’s the worst that could happen, we really can’t get much worse.

I strongly believe it will be Mick McCarthy without a doubt but would definitely prefer Chris Hughton of course . Would be amazing if Arsenal Wenger came on board . For some reason if all all fails I feel it will be either Neil Lennon or Stephen Kenny .

I would have liked McCarthy five years ago, but the time feels wrong now. That being said he knows the English second division well where a large number of Irish players play. Hopefully whoever comes in won't be on silly money again.

I'm just a bit relieved Keith Andrews isn't being considered. For whatever reason being able to talk well on tv is getting ex players linked to bigger jobs than this.
