Don’t take inserts in your tubes, has lots of negative side effects, including weight gain , depressions and others

Both work just as well as the next, both have side effects that u need to consider the injection is there for 8-13 weeks so if u have a bad side effect from it there is nothing can be done till it leaves ur system. The implant on the other hand can be removed if needs be but the problem with them is if not put in properly can travel within the body. Probably not much help sorry op

The injection seems to put weight 9n . My own doctor wont give it to women now. Iv had bar and coil. I never put on weight nor bleed but every one is different . What works for one doesn't work for another.

I took a very VERY Long time to conceive after I came off the injection. I wouldn't recommend it to friends of mine who may want kids in the future.

I believe the injection contributed to me having PCOS I’d advise against ive only seen people have adverse effects and it’s in your system for 3 months.

Alternative is a patch it stops working when you take it off just a matter of putting it where it can’t be seen. Friends of mine have gotten the coil and it can be felt sometimes by the guy during sex.

All hormonal methods have potential side-effects and they vary from person to person. Have you considered being sterilised?

I've got the mirena coil after years of the pill.

A few side effects for the 1st few months (same as most contraception) but now no effects and it's so great not having to remember to take a pill every day.

If you are prone to low moods or depression steer clear from the injection as it is progesterone only and in a higher quantity so can cause these symptoms to worsen. I have the coil almost 2 years now and have no kids. Had it inserted under General anaesthetic. If you explain to your GP that you're looking for a new method but that you're anxious they will go through all the options and may even refer you to a gynae. I've never heard of anyone having any problems with the patch unless they have an allergy to the adhesive

Sterilisation was the only way for me, contraceptive pills drove me bonkers with hormones.

I got my tubes tied , (well actually clipped) ... I had to battle to get them done as I was only 30 at the time and they tried to tell me I’d change my mind . Offered me the coil and I was having none of it ... in my opinion if you know you don’t want any more children it’s defo the way to go

I'm on my 3rd mirena coil

Got my 1st one after having my 4th child, I was well and truly finished having babies

I have gained weight over the last few years but other than that I never had any side effects

I'm actually contemplating having it taken out and getting the bar

Weighing up the pros and cons about it

Tina

The Family Planning Clinic are a great resource online for outlining your various contraceptive options. Get as much info as you can before hand, pros and cons for each then go to your Gp or Practice Nurse to discuss further. Best of luck xx.

The above is good advice, go to a qualified medical professional.

Never had kids & family planning clinic could do it for me no issue, but everyone is different.

Issue i found with coil is i could feel during sex & a partner got stuck by it a few times.

Rod in arm is best ive had. There is a tiny tiny scar on inside of upper arm that people have never noticed.

Both took a few months to settle & then periods stopped for 5 & 3 years respectively.

Patch is like smoking patch but stays on for 7 days & is flesh coloured. Can get manky by day 6, friend was always confused exactly which day she was on 6 or 7 needs change.

Injection was pain for my mother as she had to keep going back to doc every few months & she was extremely emotional (annoyed, quick to anger).

Check out family planning page they go through all pros and cons

OP arrange an appointment with your local family planning clinic who will takr time to go through with you what your best options ate and any potential side effects. I also found family planning clinic to be more informative than GP.

Ok so I suffer with pmdd which means between ovulation and my period I am like a different person, I can be suicidal, to being compulsive and risk taking behaviours and depression and anxiety. I am on the implant now and it has made me so nearly normal! All those horrible symptoms for the most part gone. BUT and it is a big one, my sex drive since having it in has gone and obviously things like the risk taking behaviours have settled so now I am like a fucking nun!!! Why did it have to change me this much?! My sex drive used to be massive!! I have changed so much it's crazy. Good luck! Xxx

. My issue on this is that I knew i never wanted any more kids and I thought that If we ever broke up and he met someone else he could have kids with her where I knew I was done so that’s why I got my tubes tied .

For the coil they must've asked me at least 5 times was I sure i didn't want any kids. I said yes I'm sure.

But then they said if I did, it could be taken out no hassle......So what were all the questions about? Lol

. It’s ridiculous the amount of times I had to go back and insist on them tying my tubes as in their eyes when women hit late 30’s early 40’s they get the “longing” well I’m 46 now and still waiting on the “longing” . I had my kids in my 20’s I’m well over nappies
