Referendum on 26th

The proposal in the referendum is to remove the word "blasphemous".

The publication or utterance of blasphemous,seditious,or indecent matter will be an offence,which will be punishable in accordance with the law.

If we vote yes it won't be a criminal offence to saying something blasphemous ...law will be changed then...

If we vote no it will stay the same,so publishing or saying something blasphemous will still be a criminal offence.

If someone is convicted person may be fined up to 25k.

You won't go to prison.

From what i can tell, its that if blasphemous gets removed then you cannot be prosecuted for saying bad things about god or allah or mohammad or whoever. But you can still be prosected for saying other insulting things incoporating bad language, graphic images etc.

I think it's more to avoid the embarrassing prospect of a court case where someone is prosecuted for saying something negative about some religion or other, as almost happened when Stephen Fry criticised "god".
