Bromley

Brothers Dosirak on Carpel street is one of my favourite.

You have to go into a supermarket to get to it, but the food Korean and fantastic.

Any other hidden gems?

Ten thousand, proper Chinese restaurant on O'Connell Street. Buffet downstairs, restaurant and private banquet rooms upstairs. Some of the food there is out of this world.

It is very nice, if ever organising a banquet for a swingers party that is where I would go. Mostly seafood though if I recall correctly.

A normally avoid buffets because the food generally isn’t great. But sounds like this place is alright!

Pho Viet on Parnell is very very good if you like Vietnamese food.

Ick! All these places sound awful!

Try:

1. Roly's

2. Cinnamon

3. Chez la Mère Zou

4. Merrion Inn (v good chicken wings!)

5. Damascus Gate

Sadly not found a decent Chinese place that is consistently good even after a few years...

For late night eats try that Persian place in Temple Bar... Zaytoon... good lamb there and popular with hipster swinkster crowds...

I thought Chez la mere was closed, Damascus is definitely on the list I do like authentic Lebanese & Syrian

Haven't tried Rolys, but the Bull Hayes supplies the beef, and he raises some great cattle so might be worth a shot

Overall I often find restaurants in Ireland a let down

Same here. From opening hours (too early!) to lack of parking to bad service and inattentive kitchen staff... I much prefer restaurants overseas but on occasion I do find some hidden gems in Dublin... you just need to know where to look and be prepared to pay for it!

It's mostly just I can pretty much replicate it at home, so why go out and pay for a meal when I can just cook it myself to the same if not better standard. I've been surprised a few times

If you whinge about paying for your OWN dinner then good luck finding a girl who'll even look twice at you. I can't think of a worse turn off.

"How often would people eat out "

If I could afford it, I'd eat out every Friday/Saturday night and bring leftovers.

Since I can't, I cook more often than not... or order the odd take-away but usually I just make salads.
