FabSwingers.com forum: At what point does a newbie stop being a newbie?

I've just read a thread on "The Lounge" forum about Fab being mentioned on Jeremy Kyle today. The site users posting to the thread all seemed to agree that this was really bad and that they should either block all newbies or leave the site alone for a few weeks till things die down etc.

I get that the more seasoned user with plenty of photos and veri's probably seems more appealing to the average user because they seem more experienced and thus get a lot of messages. I just wonder how they themselves started on the site and if it was as difficult for newbies when they joined as it seems to be now.

Ultimately it led me to thinking at what point does one stop being a newbie? If I'm here for a year and have no meets or veri's (God forbid) am I still a newbie? Or if I join and meet a couple of people in my first week does that mean I'm no longer a newbie?

Profiles are 'Newbies' to the Site for the first week, and therefore are filtered out by the 'Newbie' filter for that time.

However it's only once Members get their first verifications that most folks would be no longer considered a 'Newbie' to the scene.

I didn't know the site tag "newbie" only lasted the week and I had an idea that you were likely considered a newbie to users until you've had your first meet.

Your only on a week, till you get your first few meets or even first meet your still a newbie. Think I took myself around a year to get my first meet, some get to meet quicker, basically all depends on how you play it. Could try to attend a social meet and greet to get verified and meet others. But that doesn't guarantee it will be you first play meet...

I've been looking at social meet and greets, think that's the plan. I know I've only been here a week and didn't expect to play right away and still wouldn't on a first meet, I guess I just expected a more welcoming community of fabbers. Up till I started posting to the forum thread's the statuses etc seemed cliquey as if there were tight groups that new people had no chance of getting included to, and also a little bit of newbie bashing. As I said, the forums have changed my opinion.

A week is less time than the blink of an eye when it comes to this Hotel California. Folks don't always lurk here like spectres - it can take some folks months to catch up with their mail due to busy lives and commitments outside of socialising.

Try the chatrooms - we're a friendly bunch in the Ireland room usually - though quieter during the day when the Perves are all out doing that awful 'working' thing that spoils all our schedules.

Thanks for the advice, I wholeheartedly agree that the forum's are a friendlier place. The Ireland one in particular seems to be full of decent folk
