Health is the biggest asset anyone can have.

If you are strong and healthy, you should be proud of your body irrespective looks.

These threads make me despair... size 12 is now considered big. So much effort goes into body positivity and we now read a quote from an average man that size 12 is big.. we wont discuss how sizes veri, body types, height ... puffff frustrating

Don't think he called a size 12 big.

Think he meant he perfers women over a size 12, I could be wrong though....

She felt useless she was overweight...personally a like women over a size 12... the implication is there.

Now do we need to discuss how all women do not look the same in a size 12 and over.

As for this girls poor body image ..she needs a change if mindset and maybe more positive people around her.

Sexy comes in all shapes and sizes, maybe it could be the case where she needs more positive people around her.

But at the same time, I think the OP was very vague, and maybe people are filling in the blanks.

He might not have meant any thing bad from his post and does state he likes curvy ladies.

Maybe body image or size shouldn't have been mentioned from the OP.

Or dress sizes.... there a suggestion not a state of mind. Body confidence and positivity should never be defined by a dress size ... im a curvy woman, im sexy its nothing to do with my dress size and everthing to do with my own perception of self.

You do take a good pic and I have been guilty of having a few peeks at your profile. I don't think he meant any malice in his post, but if he hadn't of mentioned size 12 it may have been taken up in a different light.

Whilst I will clearly admit to fancying the slimmer lady, I've seen size 22 looking sexy and yes I bloody would!

I don't think anything below a 10 is woman in all honesty.

Hips, tits, etc don't really mean anything below that size, do they?

I know I'll get slated by the skinnier for this but f it.

Just how I feel/see women.

A size 8 or below makes me feel like I should be protecting her from being broken!

JD you know your one of my favorites but the issue is perception of size.

I wear a dress and because of my height, the cut, my body shape i can look 2 dress sizes smaller then the lady next to me wearing the same dress. If we base how we feel about ourselves based on a label on the back of a dress something is not right...im more then a label and i wont be defined by a label. I cut those fuckers off. The post wasn't well phrased but i suspect written like that to create a bit of controversy...the OP knows what he's doing

That's an exceptionally horrible thing to say. You don't think anything below a size 10 is a woman? Jesus Christ. I'm so fucking sick of this "real women have curves" horseshit. All women are real women. A woman's femininity isn't based on your narrowminded idea of beauty. And saying things like that is exceptionally hurtful to the very many women who lack curves and feel like less of a woman all day every day because of it. Every single woman is beautiful in her own way. And you sir, are a grade A arelsehole.

You're completely correct.

I'm a dickhead who's had too many beers.

I phrased that wrongly altogether and it looks like ignorant crap.

What I meant was ....No, I'm not going there.

If I define what I think, on any side, I'll be shot.

I'm just saying, I retract my previous statement about below a size.

I love women, in all shapes and sizes but they'll never be as easy to get along with as guys

Absolutely agree. I've never asked a woman what dress size she is.

If she's sexy, to my eyes, she's sexy, full stop. Size is irrelevant

Listen, I fucked up. I apologise.

I love women in all shapes and sizes so let's leave it at that.

I'm too inebriated to debate and don't want to get into an argument.

Just let's say I'm size irrelevant, able to appreciate ladies of any size, based on personality, rather than anything else. Is that ok with you?

Jaysos, why is it whenever it comes to bodyshape and clothes size you hear all sorts of complete bullshit? While the ones with clothes size 8 and less are denied of curves althogether (seriously john wtf? Just think of Madonna or Kylie Minogue, no curves?), everything above clothes size 12 is considered big Those two perceptions clearly display the madness.

And then people like the op are surprised that women struggle with their bodies.

Nobody knows what people have to deal with on a daily basis. Most people male and female have body issues. Some learn to deal with them some find it very difficult. Body shaming is rife on here and it disgusts me. Shame on all the body shakers. It's good to see the way some stand up to others. I applaud you. Think before you speak and be kind.

That's the way I read into it. The size 12, is where his preference starts from and not to say he thinks it is big. Maybe he could of said, he was shocked instead of herself, feeling useless. But your bang on about self esteem, everyone does suffer from it, in one way or another.

I wonder at what size the OP wouldnt have been hauled over the coals.

If he had said for instance size 18 yes its still an inaccurate measure dur to varying brands, body shapes etc....

I just mean more from a perception point of view what do those people who were straight on saying 12 isnt big think they would have ignored or agreed with the post at dress size wise

"I wonder at what size the OP wouldnt have been hauled over the coals.

If he had said for instance size 18 yes its still an inaccurate measure dur to varying brands, body shapes etc....

I just mean more from a perception point of view what do those people who were straight on saying 12 isnt big think they would have ignored or agreed with the post at dress size wise

Someone will always get annoyed or offended on other people's behalf, it's just the nature of the beast. "

I get that. I was actually just interested to see what peoples perceptions or thoughts on whats "big" now.

Some of the comments saying that a size 12 was considered big now seems at odds with a population that on average is getting larger a. So I was wondering are peoples idea of what is overweight getting higher or lower

I really dont think the labels help, in dealing with the obvious obesity problem we have in this Country, the debate becomes polarised very quickly, or is closed down immediately, as some feel like their being stigmatised even further. I think the current debate at the moment is interesting, and asks the question as to whether obesity is a disease or a lifestyle choice, the perception by some that obesity is unrestrained gluttony has never been useful in tackling what is a very serious problem..

Gentlemen if i may....im a bigger lady. Im a size 16. Im also fit, active, eat healthy and yes i love a beer and even a slice of cake god forbid. Im a curvy women ..fuller figure.... voluptuous...or as some like to call me fat.

For me this is a very emotive subject. I was the fat girl .. teased and bullied as a child. This is something i didnt get over till my late 30s. Very very slowly over the last few years ive learned to love myself and my body. I get frustrated with a womens value or sexiness been placed on her body shape. Sexiness is a state of mind ..its confidence in yourself and your own skin, its definitly not to be found in a dress size.

I was always bigger then the other girls . Got my 1st bra at ten. As a young woman i was ashamed as a 42 year old im proud, confident and strong. For alot of women, bigger and smaller, focusing on body shape, sizes and weight is damaging to self esteem and self worth. Words can damage. On paper a size 16 is "big" ... I'm in proportion.. im fit ... healthy ..fantastic resting heart rate but a size 16. What's my lable ??

Why, oh why, do people feel the need to preach about diets, gyms, exercise and the like. To me it's starting to get into body shaming, not every one is into the gym type lifestyle, including myself. I don't have the time, nor energy after a day's work, to even bother about it...

I'm a size 16 for my hips and bum. Sometimes a 14, it all depends on the clothes. I'm a size 16 in some tops and others I need an 18 for comfort and shape round my boobs.

Every woman is different in their shape, top and bottom. Most women aren't happy with their bodies (me included). We have it on our minds most of the time anyway so don't really need our size or shape pointed out to us by others.

We know how we look. Every woman is sexy in her own right and her own way. It's not all about her body shape or size it's how she feels about herself. I've been a size 12, and even then I had the big bum, hips and boobs. That girl needs to surround herself with positive people, not one's that are going to point out what they see as her 'flaws'. That's their insecurity being passed onto her. Jealousy in its highest degree.

So true people do not realise the damage using a label can do. For yrs was told "you'd be pretty if you lost some weight" etc etc

However at 44 I'm starting to live my body, i am loving myself. Yes I'm curvy. I have fat ! I'm funny, cheeky, a good friend, a good listener, a good lover and I gave a lot of love for the people I care about. I can squat 50kg, deadlift 70kg, change a tyre, flip a large tractor tyres, I love food, I love cake and yes to some I may be fat but been overweight or a certain size or having hair a certain colour or having perfect teeth doesn't make you worse or better as a person.

So ladies embrace your bodies and love every part of it because we got it all

You touched on what i was getting at, one in four kids in this Country are overweight, what will be different about their childhood development compared to yours? This is in no way about trying to body shame any person. There is actually a far higher percentage of men who are obese in this Country compared to women, but unfortunately that is even more unspoken about here, what kind of ridicule would he come in for on this site..and this shite about not everybody being into excercise and diet, wtf like, we all have a responsibility to our children...

I think I need to clarify a little here. I was looking to see what people on the forum in their own opinions would have been had the OP pick a higher dress size or what size it would have needed to be for people not to sound amazed he had said it.

I get that its a more emotive subject for some people so I should have taken that into account.

I dont relate body shape/size to health or sexiness in general so that wasn't a consideration. Also dress size is a bad way to phrase the question as I was curious about this for all the population not just the dress wearing part of it.

Your fit, your healthy, your beautiful as your pics show. To hell with the begrudgers, You cant beat a good personality.

"This came up ,

This poor girl felt useless because she was over weight ,personally I like women over a size 12"

size 12 isn't in any way over weight. Why do people get hung up on being match stick thin. Be happy from the inside not the outside

Just read the whole thread and as a slimmer lady(hate the word skinny) can i just say i do hope i as a person i am not defined by my size but i know we all are unfortunetly. I have struggled all my life with my weight always being told i needed to gain weight. So believe me wen i say women of all shapes and sizes get shamed enough without having to deal with it here too. We come here for a break from real life

Exactly whether we're curvy or slim we're woman. If you've a prefernce dont make others feel bad about themselves. Appriciate all shapes and sizes

I couldn’t agree more. Life is tough enough without us all bringing each other down. There is someone out there for all shapes and sizes and we should celebrate that fact. xx
