Do we ( the Irish) apologise too much.

I’m starting to take the word out of my conversations and find it a little liberating ...

What do u people think ?

Also inviting new form users to give there opinion

We use it in conversation but rarely when it's actually required.

Sorry is as difficult to say sincerely as it is to acknowledge a complement

"Sorry is as difficult to say sincerely as it is to acknowledge a complement"

I kinda mean being apologetic when it’s not necessary

Example ... sorry ur not my type ...

Instead of saying ur not my type but thank u .

I worked for an English roofing company in Gibraltar years ago, and was fined £1 sterling by my colleges every time I said "Sorry"

They used to say to me "what are you sorry For"? That didn't stop me so a fine system was introduced and it didn't take me too long after that to quit, probably only £50 or £60

Hiya,

Totally agree with you,

over-use has lost its meaning!

There's always a more accurate word to substitute:

I'm sad (sorry) to hear.....

I find the word sorry when you really mean it one of the hardest words to say .. usually when I mean it sorry don't seem to cut it .. but I use it too much in my everday life and I'm going to stop only use it when really necessary

Seen some thing recently that you should turn it into a positive...if your late, don't say Sorry, instead say something like thanks for waiting
