Today my friend and I had a chat about her 18yr old daughter, and she's joined a dating site to meet men.

My friend and I think she's way too young and should be out there meeting guys the old fashioned way through college and socially.

So I done a little experiment tonight and I'm shocked by what I've discovered just now to see how many 18 yr olds are on fab and I'm shocked to see Donegal had two MEET VERIFIED PROFILES on here.

There's 1 in Wexford.

1 in Westmeath.

1 in Mayo.

1 in Galway.

Dublin our capital has none.

Cork=Zero

Limerick=None

My daughter is 20 and I certainly wouldn't be happy to see her on a swinging site.

How would you feel if YOUR DAUGHTER was on here?

Well if I have a daughter in years to come I wouldn't like her to be here but it would be hypocritical of me. I'd want her to fall in love at 16 and marry the guy later in life and live happily ever after but more than likely she will be having casual sex as a teen.

While in general I agree it's a better way for young people to build up experience by socialising rather than websites, it seems to become more and more the norm that youngsters use the web to date or experiment their sexuality and theoretically there's nothing wrong with it if it weren't for nativity, being gullible and not having developed the instinct for predators that lurk on here. It all boils down to the maturity of each individual and their 'street smartness'.

I'm a older woman so when my daughter is in her 30's obviously it's her choice and decision I'm hoping she will be sexually capable by then.

What business is it of yours what site she is on or exploring ? I was on here since I was 18 and know others also ? It hasn’t affected me.

Tinder is as bad if not worse as it’s not as private as fab profiles or similar sites and every young one is on it am sure your friend maybe be on about tinder .

My daughter is 16 and I would not be happy! Kids are way to young to be having nsa. I was 16 when I started having sex and I’ve been totally open with my daughter about my experiences. If she did want to join a site I would be chatting with her and advising her.

People lie about their ages on this all the time so a 18 yr old could well be under age! I won’t go under 25 and even at that I’m wary of meeting them as they tend to be younger.

Whatever happened to meeting people and having personal experience and not just through a site! It’s how you grow and develop and mature

Honestly, I'm not sure what people's issue is, if someone is over the age of consent, then they make their own choices. Its not as though the d*unken (or under other influences) night out scene isn't without its risks and bad decisions.

Age does not equate to maturity. There are some who have figured out their likes and dislikes earlier than others. I have adult children and what they do sexually is their business as long as they are safe and clued in which I do consider them to be.

No judgement from me on this one. And I am aware of one of my adult children being on a site and have dealt with it exactly as above.

Well agree on dating thing bit young but if there only looking for bit fun there adults so can make there own decision once there smart about it lot weird guys on this and after reading about that tinder guy women and even men have be more cautious when meeting people online

Just read through all the comments completely forgot about the post sorry.

I have to laugh at the anger of some of the replies.

It's none of my business I'm simply giving my opinion that I think it's too young.

At 18 these young people should be out with their friends socialising and meeting people in college. The tinder rapist is one of the reasons I'd be very concerned obviously.

Plus at 18 is anyone really that sexually mature not to be taken advantage of? Young teens are easily manipulated and when I think of all the older men looking to meet younger girls it makes me shudder!!

Yes I think it's sick and no I'd not be happy with a 48yr old man fucking my 20yr old daughter.

Thankfully my daughter is in college and has a excellent social life lots of friends and a boyfriend so I don't have to worry about her like that.

Maybe some day she will join a site like this but right now she's doing the normal thing.

The internet is and has become a dangerous place for people. Especially younger people.

18 year old joined up, made her way through all the chat regulars, aged from 35 - 50 years old.

A lot of them had said previously that 18 was too young for them, when chatting to 30 year old women.

Women would be much less likely to be with an 18 year old from my experience on here anyway. Although a lot of them might have sex with a young guy if he stays around for a while.

In conclusion. even 10 years ago 18 year olds were going dogging with 50 year old men they met online and having strangers bend them over cars. Nothing has changed.
