I’d say as early in the morning as possible , for me if I don’t take it in time and the eyes start streaming , they’ll keep weeping even after I’ve taken the tablet . And best to take every day because they have a cumulative effect ( I think )

Vaseline in the nose helps too even though its soinds digusting

I find taking them at bedtime works best , especially if you had bedroom windows open , pollen settles on your bed

Always with the bloody windows open and a massive tree outside the window. I'm going to try them at 7am in the morning and see how I get on during the day

Heard on radio it's a very high pollen count at mo with grass pollen.

Recommended not to hang washing to dry outside as you then bring the pollen in. I'd not thought of that.

I take Piriton at night and use beconise during the day. I like the nasal sprays as they get in behind the eyes. Piriton at night before bed helps with a good nights sleep. There was a time when my eyes would be glued together in the morning. This is one of the worst years in a long time

Ye I find most pills do. I have a lifetime experience of trying everything. That’s why I take pills at night and use sprays all day

That reminds me of the ‘local honey’ idea from years ago. There is different kinds of hay fever. Tree and grass I get grass hay fever. I grew up in the middle of horse country in Kildare. I had a terrible time as a kid in the 70’s when there was little on the market. Nettle soup was the worst lol

It’s too hard to find, expensive and doesn’t really work.. stick with the drugs that work. Wife’s tails are fine but you want to be able to leave the house when the sun shines

Local honey works wonders for me. Also avoid caffeine intake as much as possible.

Another thing is milk thistle from health shops.

I dont take the tablets they disagree with me last time i couldnt stay awake for 2 days was wrecked...non drowsey my ass

If you can find real honey comb it’s worth a try. Processed isn’t as good. Hay fever is a over active immune system, I heard that not being brest fed as a baby increases the chance of getting it. The immune system is very individual to everyone. What works for one might not work for someone else x

I normally get the honey from a local food fair once a year. Its been working so far for me. That being said it could stop at any time. I do find on a particularly bad day i need to cut the coffee out aswell.

The rapseed is my biggest trigger .. it's like a bad flu. In the last ten years grass pollen has been getting worse for me

Kildare is the worst part of the world if you get grass hay fever. It’s so flat that a gust of wind can travel miles across fields and gardens. I grew up in kill, and that’s what it did every summer to me

Valid point and i could see that happening. Its one of those things that if its bad enough a person will try any method no maatter how ridiculous it sounds. I have a friend who took the milk thistle and it cured him effectively. He takes it once a year the last 2 years.

I think this might be much better , I’m going to try taking it last thing at night and see if it makes a difference . I’ve only be having allergy problems the last 3/4 years

I have tried a lot of tablets for hayfever but none seem to work. They all seem to make me drowsy even though they say there non drowsy. My eyes are really feeling it at the moment. Went to the doc and got telfast tablets and eye drops and nasal spray, they seem to be good but still have irritated eyes. The only thing that has ever fully worked in the injection but it's hard to get it these days.

Read the other day that local honey is a myth. Bees produce honey and they carry pollen from flower to flower. The pollen from flowers does not cause hayfever. The airborne pollen from trees and grass does. Honey is not produced from them so can not help.......can't remember where I read it

I got eye drops from the pharmacy which have an antihistamine in them. Very soothing. Last sunny spell I took cetirizine in the morning, nasal spray, 4 X eye drops through the day, more nasal spray around 7pm. Early evening is always worst for me but this regime finally sorted it!

Do you have the name of the eye drops? I'm using otrivine and opatanol at the mo. I tried an allergy spray mist and that actually does relief the dryness.

I agree. There are lots of wives tails but I honestly think they are all placebos. Iv tryed everything, over the counter pills and sprays work and let me enjoy the sunshine

Well I was reading a book about old wife's tales and interestingly it said the in the spring when nettles are growing to get stung with them and hayfever will be held at bay for the summer I went for it and belive me it works not a bit of hayfever this year not very nice to get stung but it's so worth it
