Length. How much is too much.

I’m off to have a look at a three year old car. 2L diesel with a full service history. Nice clean car. Only concern. 95K kilometers on the clock. Obviously ex fleet. Is 100k such an issue with modern cars? Is 200K the new 100K? BTW I only drive at the weekends so feck all mileage per year. So how much is too much?

My car is 9 yrs old and only passed the 90k mark this week haha. I don't have a full licence though so mainly drive to work and back again

I would imagine the style of driving was more of an issue than the actual msg.

I had a Toyota with 290,000 km on the clock when I sold it and was still perfect

P.S. fleet/company cars are usually the best to buy. They may have high mielage but they are usually very regualarly serviced and looked after that way.

Recently scrapped a 3 series touring with 240k miles, started every turn of the key.. histiry is everything, with plenty of receipts and stamps 250k is do-able*

*except a Renault.. 80k on a renault is optimistic, they're made of string, jelly and prayer..

If you only drive at weekends why are you buying a diesel? That car has average mileage for a diesel car.

If you do less than 20,000km per year it wouldn't pay you to drive a diesel car because you are probably paying €1500 extra to buy the car with the diesel engine.

Also the trend is going away from diesel rapidly so in a few years your diesel car could be harder to sell on.

Petrol cars are less complicated too but obviously dont last as long.....

Have a disco 3 with 329k on the clock. Still driving like a dream. Getting 40mpg on the motorways. N for a 2.7L V6. A lot of people are amazed at the milage I get. Just once it has a good service history n was well looked after go for it. Desials are getting a lot cheaper with bad press they are getting. With fumes n shit.

Wrong.... I look after my own car because it's mine. Company car-I just take the keys and drive...

Also as someone else has said.. if you're doing low milage then diesel isnt a good idea, diesels need a good run to work efficiently... otherwise you'll get d up rings and egr valve, expensive to fix..

A car that's serviced on time and hasn't had the shite rattled out of it on rural Irish roads should be fine. 100k is nicely broken in & should be giving you another 250-300k. Like many of the folks on fab regular servicing is it's life's blood

Tbh I'd a stear clear from all diesel cars not worth the hassle worse still the health issues with them.

This time next derv will be 1.80€ litre easy.

Buckets of shit. Only past one earlier pulled into side of the road with bonnet opened. There's a reason they're cheap.

Herself has an A4 2010 and never given trouble in 3 years. I just bought a 2013 3 series with a full BMW history with 100k on the clock. Not a rattle from it, apart from me blowing the tyre yesterday feck sake. €200 per tyre . Stick to German brands. Audi VW BMW merc and u cant go wrong

Opel is supposed to be German

Well its GM but who knows where cars are made now and alot of tbe same engines are in different makes of cars

The Mercedes vito 1.6 is a renault trafic engine for example

I bought a Renault kangoo ex post van had only 33k on it when i got it it has now got 200k 11 year old and never gave me any trouble i hope to get another 100k out of it

A friend of mine had a Toyota avensis that had 660k on the clock when he retired it. I know the car was very well serviced and this guy always gets crazy mileage from his cars.
