what are you hoping for in the abortion laws? Leo has already said the proposed laws will likely change but he will try stay in the spirit.

Now Ireland has removed the rights of the unborn at every stage of gestation and it never regains rights until it is born, there is a lot of scope.

Would you like to see

12 weeks

24 weeks

or let the woman chose at any point during pregnancy?

Whatever is brought in will be challenged now that funding restrictions will be lifted. The restrictions didnt stop amnesty during the referendum though.

I personally think 12 weeks will be passed, the laws will be a bit restrictive, and invite a legal challenge thus allowing them to wash their hands of 24 week abortion.

I don’t live in Ireland but don’t think any abortion beyond 12weeks should be allowed without significant mental/physical medical reasoning for it

But I firmly believe in pro choice for women and particularly vulnerable women/children

Unless there is a significant risk to female or foetus then I think 20weeks should be the cut off, I used to think the 24weeks wasn’t as traumatic (once I’d seen a different side of the coin and stopped be anti abortion) until my son was born and twins were beside him in SCBU and fighting for their lives at 22weeks, under normal circumstances they would not have been deemed viable but at the time the resources were available and the hospital done everything they could and sadly one passed at 7weeks old but the other survived and as far as I’m aware has never had any long term issues, a friends twins were born at 24weeks the boy has profound disabilities and wheelchair bound and the girl has CP and mild learning difficulties, my friend was advised to abort at 20week scam however the twins were 6years of IVF so there was never any doubt in her mind the babies were wanted but sometimes I do wonder what the quality of life her son has, her daughter yes is a very happy child her son however takes so many medications painkillers breaking apparatus etc it’s hearvreaking to see at times, on the other side I have seen babies in care and being adopted(hurrah) and babies/children neglected by women who actually wanted to be mothers, can’t imagine the trauma of having a baby when you’ve been forced and haven’t the mental capacity to be a parent

There are so many individual cases where there are in my opinion justifiable cases for and also so many cases I just think you selfish stupid bitch

12 weeks is more than enough time for a woman to consider her options in normal circumstances.also a more developed fetus needs a different method of abortion which no doubt is far more painful for the woman to undergo physically .12 weeks or under is favored for this reason . Also note that the majority of providers of this service refuse to assess or treat women under 9 or 10 weeks , so it’s not like you could be say 5 weeks pregnant and arrange an abortion on Monday . This does not happen .

As some health issues cannot be detected/confirmed until the results of 20 week scan are known, 24 weeks is the optimum.

12 weeks except for ffs as long as government pull finger out & have things stream lined. Not that you find out at 8 weeks have 72hr thinking time plus wait for scan to confirm dates & you're over 12 weeks. Think of waiting times for other scans in ireland.

Personally I would like a limit on funding per female except in female violation or similar cases e.g. 2/3 accidents now you pay for pills not that it becomes type of contraception been paid by tax payers for people who didn't like feeling of condom or can't be bothered with other forms of contraception.
