Gastroesophageal reflux disease. It’s basically a

Chronic

Unexceptionable

Nuisance of a

Thing.

And something I’ve lived with all my life but now, after years of living on 120mg of nexium per day and a very limited diet, I’ve been offered a glimmer of hope. GERD surgery. Has anyone had it done or know anyone who had it done? Looking for feedback. Cheers in advance.

I suffered with this for 5 months before..not fun at all to feel burning in your oesophagus and the feeling that your oesophagus is being pinched..turned out i had an ulcer on my oesophagus also had 1 in my stomach..symptoms became very bad the day after drinking id vomit blood also if i ate anything salty like a fry up..had to quit alcohol and salty food..went to the doctod twice and he gave me antacids which helped for a while but it always came back..i was convinced i had an infection caused by hpylori bacteria so had to argue with the doctor for a perscription for strong antibiotics..i got a course that lasted a week and it seems to made the difference..no more symptoms and its been 5 months now..ill try get to the end of the year before i attempt to drink again just to make sure im well healed..my ulcers/gurd can be directly attributed to me taking to much salt..yes salt..

It’s been a long long road but the hospital have no other avenue of treatment. With no LES and scarring on my vocal chords it’s only a matter of time of when the scarring changes to a more pressing issue. It’s just a waiting game now.

Mine started at the ripe age of 12. Can’t remember a time when I didn’t have it. You get used to the nose bleeds and voice changes but the pain is the killer. It never gives up.

Its probably a bit late in the day for this but a course of anti biotics would have saved you years ago

I was born without a LES. Antibiotics would never help.
