Why are guns not allowed at the convention where Mike Pence is speaking ? Seems odd the NRA won't allow that. Don't guns make life safer in their view ?

"I believe the venues doesnt allow guns. Plus it's the vice president anyone could try to kill him"

But according NRA logic in usual circumstances if people were allowed to carry it makes the situation safer.

Look up John Oliver interviewing an NRA spokesman, it will tell you all you need to know about the US gun lobby. It's both hilarious and profoundly depressing all at the same time

Why do people go on about gun laws in America when we live in a country that has very strict gun laws?

We don't have mass shootings of random victims in schools, churches and shopping malls.

Ireland has the correct gun laws you are vetted a background check is done you need to have a valid reason to own a gun and we have restrictions on the type of guns you can own. Most of the gun crime you talk about are with illegally held guns

You don't need gun's to cause mass casualties, just look at Europe over the last 5 years or so..look at England, gun control as draconian as our own and London is as bad or worse for violent crime and it's not gun's being used but knives...and our own great little country isn't much better....but yes let's all go anti gun nut

Not all of us are anti gun. I've been a competition shooter for over 20 years and been hunting since I was a kid.

I agree entirely. So why it be rational to take guns from the good people and give the bad guys the advantage

I think you are missing the point. In the states they want to bring in background checks to stop unsuitable people from getting guns not "good" guys as you say.

they have background checks in the state's already and even over there good guy's,not law enforcement sometimes stop bad guy's with gun's from doing bad things....if some scumbag or scumbags break into your home in Ireland what have u got to protect yourself with harsh language or the Guards if the even get there in time...

A "bad guy" isn't a bad guy so if he isn't caught breaking the law ?

He's a law abiding citizen according to the law. His actions may be a direct opposite to what a "good guy" is.

The United States has the world’s highest rate of civilian gun ownership and those high ownership rates translate into one of the highest rates of firearm homicides in the world. Now go and figure how more guns make a place safer???

Ahh Jack, knowing your type of posting I didn't expect anything else than a one single line answer with a void argument. Cheers is all I can say!

I'm willing to expand the argument but unfortunately you resort to the condescending approach
