How many hours sleep do you get a night? Would you try get to bed at the same time each night when up early in the morning?

I need at least 8 hours, always have. When younger I could function on a few hours after late night or early start but wouldn't feel great, now loss of sleep will mean a crippling migraine

I could do with 8 hours and wake early all the time but realistically I get about 5 hours of broken sleep

Feel like I got about an hour last night so it's going to be a looonnggg day

I really struggle to sleep for the past year. I'd almost always fall asleep as soon as I hit the bed but only ever manage about 2 hours unbroken sleep. Most nights I am in bed between 10.30 to 11. I'm usually awake by 1.30 and maybe fall back asleep around 4. I'd sleep on and off after that.

That's almost an exact copy of myself over the past few weeks. Can't explain it

I do, the only time I have restless sleep is around my period.

I sleep like a log almost every night unless I'm not in my own bed.

I can't explain it either. My kids actually sleep through the night so not sure what it is.

Lots of things can cause poor sleep.

-excess caffeine particularly in the afternoon and evening (and tea contains caffeine too!)

- too much fluid late in the day resulting in a full bladder during the night (or prostate issues in men causing the need to pee)

-alcohol, although it may make you sleepy, it disturbs sleep pattern

Eating too much or rich foods in the evening, your last meal should be several hours before bed

Exercising too late, although exercise is generally a promoter of good sleep, late exercise can mean you are overstimulated.

Using electronic devices - the light emitted stimulates your brain

Bedroom too hot or too cold. Any warmer than 18C and you probably won't sleep well.

Stress/anxiety/depression can cause a struggle to get to sleep, frequent waking, or waking in the early hours and being unable to get back to sleep. Work stress, unresolved relationship issues, money problems, all these can cause restlessness, even if you aren't consciously thinking of them.

I've tried just about everything. I usually exercise in the mornings and keep the bedroom just for sleep. No looking at tv or phone. Winding down before bed. Tired mindfulness and meditation. Just nothing seems to work for me these days.

Hate going to bed.

Hate getting out of it.

Bit of an night owl.

Would love 8 hours sleep.

You would be wrecked the next day when you're in the saddle all night. Better off to get sex over and done with in 5 minutes

Ah you get a few years of peaceful nights until you have to lie awake wondering what time they'll get home safe

Sleep like a log every night, as soon as my head hits the pillow I'm gone, and I only wake up if I need a pee, or the alarm wakes me.

I've done long stints of little sleep (work related), or just snatching an hour or two here and there, and can do that for extended periods too if I have to.
