Any recommendations for a smart phone aside from Apple? I've an iPhone 6 at the mo - slow as hell, not charging, not receiving calls and messages! It's time to get a new phone... any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Huawei/Honor. Great price with the same specs as the dearest Apple or Samsung's.

Experia is a beautiful phone but one little crack and it doesn't work. They're expensive to fix too.

I switched to samsung, it's a galaxy A5. Decent phone and not too expensive.

Had iPhones from their release ten years ago. Work fixing phones too and would always have said apple. Last November I invested in a OnePlus 5t. An unbelievable phone for the price. Big screen, face unlocking, dual cameras, 8gb ram / 128gb and above all else it fully charges in 30 mins. Sim free too which is few and far between these days. Look it up, you won't be disappointed.

Phone insurance is a money maker anyway, can be cheaper to not have it sometimes

Depends what you use phone for OP. If camera, the latest iPhone is amazing. I'm saying that but must state that I can abide Apple and their locked in mentality.

A friend got the Samsung Galaxy S7 a year ago and went on a trip around Ireland. He posted all the pics on Facebook. I asked him if he was working for Bord Fáilte, as the pics were just stunning! Couldn't believe they were taken from a phone.

So, personally, I think the S7 is just a touch too wide for one handed texting. Go to your local shopping centre and check. The S8 is just perfect size. Camera is even better and tech is upgraded.

You can get it on eBay for £500 or less. If you're prepared to wait 2mths or so, until S9 is released, possibly less.

That's what I'm doing. Secret, password protected folder for Fab related stuff too. What's not to love

Invest in an IPad Pro and just pick up a new factory stock iPhone 5S for £50.

You’re already invested in apples eco system for apps etc, an iPad is immensely easier to do all sorts of stuff on than a phone and you can simply use the 5s for, ya know, text, kik and calls.

Resist Apple. Resist Apple. Resist Apple. Keep chanting that until you reach the real, free, open source world

That’s just a scam email. Ignore it. I wouldn’t worry about it. They send them to everyone and if one or two people are silly enough to reply and put in their details, they win. Still, no harm in checking with the bank either to be on the safe side.

Same issue here OP. Apple are doing a battery replacement offer at the moment for iPhone 6 and 7’s. I think it’s around €30 for a replacement genuine battery. Discounted down from about €89 I think. They reckon that’s what’s causing the iPhone 6 to slow down. That and their silly software throttling performance. It’s the lithium ion batteries degrading over time. We’ll see does it sort it out. Still, it’s always nice to get a new phone to

I’m so invested in the Apple eco system that I couldn’t switch - if you like taking great pics then I’m gonna say stick with what you know and splurge on the iPhone X

As far as I know it’s a global thing Apple are doing as a lot of people were giving out about their iPhones slowing down. Not too many authorised Apple repairers down this direction though.

Goldie it’s available to iPhone 6 and above for £25. Go to Apple store or contact them and can be posted. Though I believe they have a two week lead in for batteries
