Excited or anxious

Hard to tell the difference sometimes

I have social anxiety at the best of times. Esp meeting new people for the first time. I become a chatterbox

How are you when meeting and greeting with new people and possible play mates?

Satine

I'm glad I'm not the only one. The connection between my brain and my mouth stops working and a lot of stupid stuff comes out. Beer helps.

I'm actually more likely to get like that at a work event than in any swinging capacity, I'm clearly mental

anxiety is a popular thread tonight.

i used to suffer quiet badly with it and now when meeting new people just keep reminding myself that the other person is probably a little anxious too and that we're here for the same reasons, either just for a social meet or a play date. it can add to the excitement too.

I’m a total chatterbox god knows what will come out of my mouth but I’m like that all the time just heightened when nervous

Started a new job and was moving between a few teams, said to my supervisor I’m like the office slut think my mind is better in the swinging world

I get terrible social anxiety! Oddly, a psychological trick to overcome it is to tell yourself you're actually excited. The physical sensations are exactly the same for excitement and nervousness. It's all about attitude!

I find no issue if I have chatted a fair bit on here or via kik first - you get a feel for someone and it generally makes conversation flow much easier

Doesn’t matter how much I’ve charted before I’ve got verbal diarrhoea when I meet anyone

Of course! But am too much of a pervert not to claw out of my realm and into the wider world like a lecherous Cthulhu.

Remember that mating potentially contributes to the progress of the human race, so sating your sexual needs is actually noble.

Yes am in a weird mood today

I tremble with excitement... visibly! I used to think it was part nerves, but no matter how relaxed I am now with some friends or how many times I've met them, I still tremble with excitement to see them...

I do love feeling good that adrenaline buzz inside me. The nerves has its perks.

It's good to know I'm not alone. Kinda makes it a little easier, just to remember the other person/people might feel as nervous/excited.

It might comfort you to know that being laidback, comfortable, and not nervous can be off putting to people.

They can take it as a sign you're not interested, and it can suck the "spark" out of the meeting, if you're the emotional sort.

I have had girls meet me for a date (non swing) and tell me I came across so nice and laid back and it was like meeting a really old friend that they had known for years. But that there was no excitement... but then I meet other girls who love that I am laid back and nothing phases me and that i feel like their best friend..

So if you get nervous and see it as a problem, then not being nervous isn't any better, its just the other side of a coin.

Bricking it! Nervous as hell in any social situation with new people, especially if it's a teetotal scenario. I know! Yes, drink is my crutch. I just feel awkward and not able to chat about mundane stuff.

I should say, this is my perception of how I am. The reality may be different but it's how I see it. I feel everyone is judging everybody else when it's a meet for first time.

I would only meet a Fabber that I have spoken to quite a lot, or had a lot of banter with on the forums as I'm that nervous about it.

Funny you say that I was once stopped in Dublin city by a random woman who was as she said an angel healer and card reader told me I have the soul of a "fallen angel" no matter how many bad situations I get myself into I will always come out ok in the end of it haha I can't say I'm strong believer in all of that stuff religion in general too so I guess we are both Angels

Oh I just love winding them up. Same with priests. Father are ghosts real? Usually they say No. So Father, the Holy Ghost isn't real then? Followed by much backtracking from the man in black

I used to be very anxious socially until I stopped caring what people thought of me. I also realised that as an introvert, crowded social events do nothing for me, so I just don't bother with those any more, but meeting new people doesn't phase me, they will either like me or they won't.

100% agree with this. I get very anxious in regard to meeting and I just have to keep reminding my self about how much I want to and how excited I am to allow myself to go through with it.
