Was on fb over the weekend and stumbled across someone who used to be good friends with an ex over 20 years ago got thinking about her and looked her up couldn’t find her as I presume she is married and changed her name but for the last couple of days I have been thinking about her and reminiscing about our time together just wondering does this happen anybody else

Oh gosh yes! I'd say nearly everyone has someone or a few someone's they think back on.

Just think, you are somebody's daydream this afternoon

Not to the point where I look them up. I did add an ex though on twitter or something, but thats cause she was commenting in the same circles and felt like we were ignoring each other.

So now we ignore each other while being on each others friends list.

Think about, talk to, meet for a cuppa, send photos of my new toys, go to their weddings, all the time, cos they're friends. I've been really lucky with mine, they're (nearly all) awesome people that still play important parts in my life.

The one or two that aren't friends anymore I miss so much. Can deal with a relationship ending but losing their friendship as well can be painfully sad.

Yes my last gf. Tried this. Didn’t want to be with me but wanted to just be friends. In what world does that work. Lol like all I would want to do is kiss her and all then. She be with someone else and still would want to be friends and. Talk. Yea. Dead on. Lol. Cut the cord move on

Works in my world, like I just said. Works well. Beautifully, even, with time. Each to their own, though.

Since my ex-husband shares custody of our kids, two of whom are still minors, hard not to think about him. I look forward to the day when contact becomes unnecessary. We're cordial but no more, and have nothing in common now but the kids.

Yeah sometimes I do think back on past exes, the oral my first girl used to give me has never been toped! Plus she was too nice for the likes of me haha

Immediately after a break up I'd think about them for weeks on end and mess up dating opportunities for weeks with other girls because I'm still thinking about them but once I'm back dating they're forgotten about. I've zero contact with most and do my best to keep it that way. To be fair I haven't been in really long relationships so maybe that's why I don't care for their friendships and don't want them around my circle cause I just don't like telling new girls oh that's my ex etc.. Less drama to walk away completely for me anyway.

I actually think about the nice ones occasionally. Fond memories mostly. Very rarely I think about the bad ones and I'm glad I moved on.

Still friends, though distant/rare chats such as birthdays and the like, with a few. I think if it was a good relationship, then it's more likely that you will still be friends. I have since met one of the bad ones and adult cordiality would be the best we could manage. C'est la vie.

Yes, recently started checking out her profile on fb not in a stalking way but was jus reminiscing of good times we had. Although it was a very bad break up and ended up me in a bout of depression as she went off to abu Dubai to become a teacher where she met her now current fiancée. Sometimes I wonder wat my life would be like if we stayed together but then I remembered she drove me mad and is now happy with someone else and for that I’m happy for her and I as we have both moved on with our lives. She still d*unken messages from time to time but had to tell her stop don’t want the agro of her partner approaching me. But my advice no point looking at the past there’s a reason why they don’t make it into their future.

I decided to search for the girl who popped my cherry all those many months ago

I was delighted to see that she's recently become a mum so I do wish her all the best

Apart from that I try not to do nostalgia

You still talk on the phone regularly? Not being a smartass but, if I was your current bf, I might be a little uncomfortable with that level of contact.

Just saying, don't shoot me.

Good that you have the fond memories but are they and the regular contact preventing you from forging ahead?

"I don't have a current boyfriend."

Men of Ireland, cop yourselves on and be awake to this wonderful lady!

No,I wasn't saying you had or not. I was just saying if.

As in, I'd be a little curious as to you speaking with the ex regularly. Probably if he met your ex out socially and knew that it was definitely not something that was to be rekindled, then all would be cool.

As you're currently single, it's a moot point.

why don't you tell him how you feel? And see what happens? I understand you might not want to risk loosing the friendship too! Just tell him you miss him a lot in the next call, life's too short x

Was with my ex for 5 years, we have a two year old little girl together. I had given the last year and a half trying to win her back and she always told me to let it go and move on. It crushed me as for me it always boiled down to our little girl having both her parents 7 days a week.Nothing had happened in the relationship that needed it to end full stop. 3 weeks ago I met an amazing beautiful young lady. Taking it slow but things are going great. Delighted to finally be able to move on. Fab will take a backseat for now.
