I'm looking for some inspiration. Last year I struggled with finding time to read or even get through a couple of books. In 2018 I want to read at least 12 books. If you guys have any recommendations, it would be much appreciated

Currently reading Graham Norton's "Holding", not far enough in to rate it, although it is very well written so far.

If you're up for a real challenge, try the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series (Game of Thrones), great books in their own right and will keep you busy for a while

Currently wading through the Conn Iggulden Emperor Series. All about Julius Caesar. It's fiction but based on history obviously. Addictive.

Ive only read a couple of Orwells books, and while they are thought provoking, they are also verrry morbid..

OP, try game of thrones. That'll keep you busy for a month or three

I've just finish Tom Crean, unsung hero and I'm about 50 pages into bad ideas by Robert Winston. Unsung hero was a brilliant book but in the early stages they seemed to guess a little at his life story. Fantastic insight into the struggles of early polar expeditions.

The human mind is also a good read by Robert Winston

TA Today: A new introduction to transactional analysis.

This book is magic. It's much more than just a psychotherapy theory. It has it's own philosophy and a masterpiece of communication.

What makes this book good?

- the belief is we create a 'script' for our lives at an early stage. Based upon our experiences, we designate how we expect and believe our lives to turn out. Whether for better or worse, we unwittingly act out this script. Whilst the notion of 'look back at your childhood' seems tedious - the ideas of scripts is profound. It's quite often you see many people act out what they believe their life should be (Like those who say they don't deserve happiness)... and if reading this you exclaim "That's a self-fulfilling prophecy!" then well done - You win a cookie

Last book I read was actually recommend to me by a fabber on a similar thread, it's called "The Gone Away World" and boy was it a trip

It's got ninjas, rally driving pirates and a mission to save the world. Very interesting read, all the characters are hilarious and unique and it will completely subvert your expectations time and time again.
