Hi all, taking up surfing this year. Any suggestions on where the best place is to start off learning?

Try Spanish point in co Clare , lovely safe beech, the guy called pat who rents the gear out beside the lifeguard station is sound and will get you going in no time at all! It's great craic

Definitely go to somewhere where you can het some lessons. Quickest way to get going. After a few lessons get yourself a board and wetsuit and go out yourself where there are others. The bigger the board the better.

Also start gradually, start with waist high waves and then as you get more experienced start going out into bigger waves.

At all times respect the sea. If you make a silly mistake she will bite back. Seen too many people do stupid things and have to rely on rnli to get them back.

Lastly, enjoy it. It's a major buzz that you'll enjoy

Tramore is an ideal spot for lessons. Lots of schools for beginners
