Joe watch out for countries that are legalising cannabis or going to legalise it.

Some companies are already set up for this and ready to move on the licenses etc to supply and sell.

These companies shares will sky rocket.

The main risk is, some people have huge amounts built up. Some have billions.

If these people feel the bubble will burst, then they will dump the bitcoin which will crash the value.

It's impossible to mine, so you have to pay in with real money.

So what are the odds?

Odds are you can buy some bitcoin now and make 10 - 40% if you have the cash to invest and lose and be fine if you lose it.

Risks are growing every day that it could crash, but so far the people with huge amounts have held steady during market wobbles. However there is no gurantee they will always hold steady.

Hi Op, I think it's up there with tulip mania in that

by the time the masses catch onto the growth of bitcoin, it's already reached the bubble phase and is ready to pop...

Bitcoin seems to have flaws so another crypto currency or updated version of Botcoin will possibly replace it is my guess....

But tbh, this is all financial uncharted territory so best do your own research

I recently invested in litecoin and etheream... right now they are much much cheaper than Bitcoin and the growth rate is really strong at the moment. Litecoin alone has gone from 80quid a coin to 200+ in about 2 months, I'd say if you're looking to get into it you might be better off looking at smaller currencies to start with get the growth with them while they expand and then you can cash out and transfer the earnings into Bitcoin.

Least that's my plan anyway

Cardona and stella are definitely worth a look. Litecoin has been hanging in at the 200/250 was worth getting in two months back. Ripple is another that will increase next year.

Only invest what you could live without! Crypto coin market is where to monitor them.

Bitcoin did NOT 'nosedive' but it was a price correction. Bitcoin is still +63% since last month. And its still almost £10K plus since this time last year. Crypto currency has over half a trillion dollar market cap. Small dips once in a while are expected. That is when you buy more crypto currency.

I think its called Iota.I was looking at it a couple of weeks back when the merge was going ahead but chickened out.

My advice is that you should make your own assessment and decide whether you feel crypto is the future of world banking. Nobody really knows and any advice from other people is merely a guess. The fact is that bitcoin could be worth €100,000 or nothing in a few years.

A few years ago a Bank Manager I knew as a friend was telling me to invest in Anglo Irish and Bank Of Ireland shares as they were seriously undervalued. I didn't follow his advise and he lost the price of a house...

So what I took from all that was that if a Bank Manager of a leading bank doesn't know about bank shares, nobody knows... and it's the very same with bit coin, a lot of "experts" can tout that they know but they're purely speculating...

Do your own research, take a calculated risk but be aware of the downside...

Do a google for top 40 crypto coin exchanges. Yhe result near the top (think its bestbitcoinexchanges.io) should be the one you want; it’s really good and gives information on them... I found it useful anyway..

Search "coin market cap" on google. It will show you about a 1000 crypto currencies and their prices, including websites for the individual currencies and how to buy them. Top 30 are usually the better performing ones. Coinbase fees can be reduced if you use GDAX (also owned by Coinbase. Fees on GDAX range from 0.3% to 0% depending on how you place a buy order. Hope that helps.

I have an obscene amount of Ethereum (bought my first @380 and average cost around 420), a fair bit of Litecoin (average cost @250) and a little bit of Ripple (@0.25). I predict that Ethereum will surpass Bitcoin in terms of market cap by 2025 once smart contracts become widely used by the mainstream. I am up 29K usd when I last checked and have no plans to cash out anytime soon.

I don't understand how it works. Let's say you invest in cryptocurrency and in x amount of time it's worth x amount of money.

How does that money transfer to physical legal tender in your hand cash?

Let alone where does it get it's value from when it was literally created out of nothing and exists only digitally. Couldn't we all just create our own currency.

Lastly. Why invest / buy cryptocurrency if it virtually cannot be spent anywhere?

It’s worth looking at how the block chain works for crypto currencies. Currently bitcoin is consuming as much energy as Ecuador. That is unsustainable but no one has figured out a different system of verification yet. It’s clearly unsustainable. That’s my take on it. Blockchain and cyrptocurrejcy are over hyped and will go thru a serious correction in nxt 2-3 years
