Ok sorry I have not worded it correctly. In a group scene for the first time do you wait to be called over ? Look for eye contact etc

Someone told me you touch the person on the shoulder and if they respond its a yes dont respond its a no (is this bull ?)

I have a meeting next week with a couple and that is quite clear as the guy is going to tell me exactly what he wants me to do and this is how his wife wants it.
