Just realised I said Karen when her name is katherine.... she ran when women were banned as medical doctors said running get would damage our wombs .. cause us to become masculine and was considered very dangerous for women. She's a remarkable woman. This year as a woman of over 70 she ran the Boston marathon in the same time as her first marathon all those years ago ... 4hrs30. Inspiring stuff

I'm just think about the desiderata here and painful memories are returning of a school principal who taught Christian Doctrine in my school in the early eighties. He decided we all needed to learn it off by heart overnight and decided to beat it into us. The irony of the opening line.. "go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence" obviously escaped him as he beat the shit out of a class of thirteen year olds. I've never liked it since that.

Try to live life in the moment with a realisation that both the good and bad times in life are temporary, that emotions are caused by perception and are worth noticing but not as a self identity. What we perceive is often due to bias and the human sensory system is exceptionally prone to error. "Going with your gut" very often isn't the correct way to respond to a situation as we often have conditioned responses that lead us to falsely identify a secondary situation as having the same outcome as a previous encounter. I try to educate myself as often as I can with knowldge particularly with philosophy and scientific matters. To try to be a positive influence on my own growth.
