Three course meal - What would you choose?

Jump to newest

Belfast

My birthday is coming up and my mother, being the wonderful person that she is, has offered to make me a three course meal for it if I let her know what I would like for each course.

I have decided on my starter and dessert but just can't decide what I'd like for the main.

This got me thinking: If you could choose anything you want, what would you choose for your starter, main course and then dessert.

Also, do you think can we tell much about a person by their food choices?

Some very interesting choices and certainly food for thought (see what I did there? )

I've decided on butternut squash soup (spicy) for my starter.

Beef stroganoff or steak with onions, mushrooms and pepper sauce for my main, and trifle for dessert.

This trifle though is no ordinary trifle, it is..... I can't put it into words... but so yummy.

Yeah, that's an issue today. Nearly at the point of kids dictating the menu! Not in my house.

My menu was meant to say 12 hours smoked btw. Had it recently and was one of the nicest things I've ever tasted, in a restaurant

Haha, a saying from my mother when we said "I don't like that".

"You don't have to like it, all you have to do is eat it".

She used to tell us we weren't allowed to leave the dinner table until we finished eating our dinner. There was many a night I was sitting at that table til late near falling asleep. If we didn't eat what we were given then we went hungry and when we got our next meal, it didn't matter what it was.... by feck that meal got devoured.

Proper order

Result is you likely have a broader appreciation of food than people who got what they wanted as a kid, though I guess that depends on the culinary breadths that were taken by the respective parents.

Apparently our taste buds are continuously evolving until we're 30 and hence we may gain an appreciation for different foods over time.

Not that I care as I cook what I like, sometimes even things I'm not mad about but that's what dinner is being put in front of you and the only other possible option is one slice of toast.

Yep, that's exactly right. My siblings and I have a broader appreciation of food than most people. There are very few things between us that we don't like to eat.

For me, olives, them things are just gross. I've never been able to eat em no matter how many I've tried. Lol
