Yet another phone virus on the go,this time its Aldi . last time Tesco and Argos . If you get a mail from a contact sharing a link to go to collect a 150 $ christmas voucher ,ignore it, tell everyone you can . Its a virus it will then msg everyone on youre contacts . if you have tried to avail of it ,to be safe delete youre whats app account and reinstall it .I know its a pain in the ass,and I konw its an inconvienace but its the only way to be safe from ,well who knows.Harry

Has this actually happened to you or are you just copying and pasting from somewhere else?

If the scam alert is valid (which it is), is it relevant that is has happened to him personally?

Relevant, only in as much as I see these things copied and pasted all the time, but no one ever seems to have been on the receiving end personally. I was just curious.

I received two of those messages already today.

I think it’s just common sense that you won’t click on the link.

Just delete, or if it’s from an unknown source, block and report as spam

Like I said in my last post, I often see warnings pop up on Facebook about hackers and suchlike, but I'd never actually seen anyone who's had it happen to them. I've had a message from someone since I posted that here, to say that it has happened to them. I didn't mean to imply anything, it was just my natural curiosity. Sorry.

Does it help if we say we had one from ‘asda’ about 3 weeks ago. Didn’t pay it forward naturally as well warned.

Scam viruses do happen, no harm in people being warned.

But then again, I’d always trust the messages from my long lost Nigerian cousin (he’s royalty now it seems), and would definitely click on the link telling me to “click here to inherit family diamond mine”

(You just never know)

I do a little work in this area and if anything, there's more than ever before. This sort of scam isn't the most sophisticated, but some of the more targeted attacks are well planned and lucrative. I think information theft might be a worry for some leading to extortion attempts.
