Can people change, for the better or are they still the same. Charles Bronson is claiming he's a changed man after years of solitary confinement.

Do you believe it can happen?.

In his case - no

hiding from cock pics.

I believe we constantly change every new experience that life throws at us probably in my belief makes us change a little bit.

Whether there can be drastic intrinsic changes in our basic personality I don't know.

Certainly there have been people who have overcome addiction, and now council other addicts, and people who have committed horrendous crimes who now educate people and try to share their journey.

If I would trust somebody who has committed some very serious crimes in the past, I am not sure.

He's a lunatic by the sound of him. I knew a young lad in a band named after him. I had to Google it at the time and I wondered why anyone would name their band after him. Apparently a lot of the "disaffected youff" look on him as a hero. There's just no accounting for taste.

Any change has to be a result of wanting to change yourself, changing to meet the needs and wants of others is only a temporary measure in my opinion, sometimes a bigger part of the issue is others wanting to change us. But, yes..in answer to your question, people can change, I'm sure serious mental health problems will influence to what degree for some.. Jesus loves me

Yes, I believe some people can over time and maybe with some professional help and life changes.

That reminds me... How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb?

None. The bulb has to be willing to change itself!

For the likes of Charles Bronson I find it hard that he could change. Not only did he comment armed robbery but even in prison he's done violent things and keeped prisoners hostage. He's been in solitary confinement for years so getting out into society which he's hoping for would be very strange for him . A change of surname name and he thinks he's a reformed character

I believe circumstances like having kids can change people. Also with age, priorities change and consequently you change too...

..however in Charles Bronson's case, psychopaths don't change they just becoming more convincing that they've got empathy. At best, he made friends with the demons in his head ...

The jury's out but I'd approach with caution

I know I've opted for no second chances but that's my circumstances, my story. Yours I'm sure is different. Go with what's right

No people don't change, I think certain parts of their personality can diminish or be enhanced at different times during their life but fully change no. What's at the core will always be there good and bad

Nah, sorry Robbie. I'd be inclined to disagree with you. Cheaters can change.

I remember having a number of girlfriends who all cheated on me. By the time I met probably the nicest gf I've ever had, my previous experiences with past gfs had made me somewhat misogynistic towards women at the time.

I had developed a mindset where I figured they all cheat so I may as well do the same.

That nice gf I'm referring to, I know I broke her heart. At times I was also emotionally abusive. By the time I realised that not all women are the same and she was genuinely different it was too late.

But I vowed after that to never make the same mistakes or carry the same shame ever again and have stuck to it ever since.

I have never cheated since and always give my best in any relationship, exclusive or otherwise. That way if/when things don't work out I can keep my head up knowing I carried myself accordingly and gave my best.

Some people never change because they see no need nor want to.

Some people do or can change with the right motivation or if they have good enough reason/desire to.

Yes .People can change. Our behaviour is dictated by our brains. Our nrains are very maleable to change. It is very possible to "rewire" the brain. To suggest otherwise is not be ignorant of neuroplasticity and indulge in self confirming small sample bias confirmations.

The fact people can change does not inherently mean that does who say they have changed actually do.

Also for those who do change, they are still subject to the consequences of previous actions.

Sorry I thought the op meant Charles Manson because he was in the news recently when he was brought to hospital, but he's died since I think ( I really shouldn't use Facebook as my news source !) . Didn't know about Charles Brunson , must google !

I don’t believe people stay the same throughout their lives. That would mean that as a species we lack ability to learn from our experiences. Life is a journey and if someone is intelligent enough and has open mind to learn, then evolves after important to her/him experiences.
