Jackie Wilson says kinda introduced me to Jackie Wilson as well. I grew up in an environment where traditional and folk music were the big influences. I loved them them and they're still my go-to for pleasure but bands like Dexy's and as black dog mentioned above, the undertones made me realise that there were other sounds I could enjoy. The undertones teenage kicks, which I had missed until later, spoke to us all and it's gonna happen was just one of the catchiest things I've ever heard. | |||

Only problem I had was Kevin Rowlands insistence on changing some of the older songs entirely to new versions. Otherwise was a great gig. Was always a punk kid growing up. Hearing Rattus Norvegicus for the first time blew me away and have remained a fan ever since" Kevin Rowland is a brilliant but slightly bonkers artist. Certain music will always take me back to Dublin at that time. "I remember one late Thursday evening cycling up Mary St and Henry street from Capel street. Just when was reaching O'Connell street a cop appeared in front of me and started chastising me about cycling on the now pedestrianised street. What made matters worse was that in the hours it wasn't pedestrianised it was a one way street. I asked him if it would help if I pointed out that I was only going one way and he laughed so much that he just told me to go on but not knock anyone down. About a week later I was cycling down North Earl street, also pedestrianised, when the same cop stepped out again. He recognised me from the previous incident and started laughing about it again. He said it was one of those old jokes but he had never actually heard it being used until then. We became nodding acquaintances for a couple of years after that. Good times indeed! | |||

Disco with bee gees, anita ward, jacksons,
Then the slow sets ...the real reason every teen was there lol with peaches and cream, moody blues and the commodores.
And that was before i ever made it to a disco of my own
I'm impressed, what a way to be introduced to music, that was exactly the disco template. And don't forget the Anthem.at lights up!

"Dexys were brilliant. Saw them in the national stadium around the time too rye aye was out. Only problem I had was Kevin Rowlands insistence on changing some of the older songs entirely to new versions. Otherwise was a great gig. Was always a punk kid growing up.
