Unfair?

I've come to thinking.

One may choose, here, from three kinds of couples... MF, MM and FF. But what about our beloved TV/TS?! Are they destined to roam the world partnerless? To wander lonely as a cloud(note*), so to speak, never to know the helter skelter of companionship? Let's fight for their right... to Party!

(Note*)Don't you just know Wordsworth never came to Ireland. A lonely cloud indeed. Never seen one! They go around in gangs the feckers!

A TV or TS is still a male or a female, so what more do you want? This whole bullshit of men saying they are women and women saying they are men and expecting the whole world to pretend this is true is obserd.

I respect that anyone can choose to live whatever way they want and be happy and content but nobody can expect me to pretend that the truth is not the truth.

I appreciate you feel strongly about the matter, but surely it is not that black and white when it comes to identity or for that matter sexuality

Ok you're entitled to your opinion but why think it's absurd?. Is it because society dictates it. Society would also say swinging is wrong.

Each to their own is what I'd say.

Ok, when you say each TV or TS is still a male or a female are you refering to physically? What about mentally? Or does the mind not count?

Also, what about hermaphrodites? Are they male or female then?

For me it doesn't matter. If someone looks, acts, and presents themselves as a woman, and wishes to be referred to as a woman, I'm just going to call her a woman. Not because I don't understand science, but simply because I'm not an ass and I understand that trans people try very hard to live as the opposite sex. Calling them "he" and "Him", while they are dressed up as a woman, acting like a woman, talking like a woman, etc, would just be kinda mean, and I try not to be mean. It really doesn't hurt you to call someone a "she" even if they are technically not, does it?

I agree, there should be a wider range of categories that are fully inclusive in the selection process and this is the very place you would think that would have all categories covered.

As for Wordsworth...poetic licence

The truth is Gay people are out and proud, same sex marriage is being accepted in more and more countries and is being accepted as normal and people identify with the gender they feel to be true on the inside, so thankfully those kind of opinions do not count in these (all be it not fully) enlightened times. The only way to make those opinions count is to turn back the clock to the repression, hatred and violence of the 'good' old days (and not so much 'old' days in some parts of the world). You are though, entitled to your opinion and entitled to express them. So I am not suggesting for one second that you yourselves would want to see or would even condone the return of such repression, hatred and violance and I think and hope that you would be just as horrified if the ugly side of the past was to return. I am just saying that for a society to not accept, that is the only way the tide will be turned and I think the majority of people do not want to see that happen.

So if we accept the fact that TV/TS are here to stay, my original point was, should they not be entitled to Couple status just like MM, MF and FF?

Fab is pretty inclusive for TVs and TSs. Yes some of us can be part of a couple and I am friends with a few. What's the big deal?

On one hand I see where you're coming from op, but on the other I don't think it will make that much of a difference to the community plus it comes across as a over the top pc excise. However if you feel that strongly why don't you put this to admin on the site feedback forum.

Also you could argue there should be a separate category for TV and one for TS (TG is the pc label I think) as it certainly isn't the same.

There seems to be an obsession with gender issues, with all the various labels being prescribed, the latest being gender fluid. Gender derives from a complex relationship between biological sex and behaviour. And nature and nurture are not easily separable. Some people unfortunately feel they are trapped in the wrong gender, some even commit suicide. Not so much because of their mental conflict over their sexual identity, but moreso to do with transphobia driving them to despair. Words matter.

Absolutely 100% words matter! I have watched my son grow up struggling with his sexual identity and the attitudes of those around him. I have seen him go through a complete breakdown where I nearly lost him to shitty attitudes of those around him that chose not to accept him and treat him horrendously through ignorance or lack of understanding. As a mother we can not protect our children from these kind of hurt's, just arm them with a tougher skin and the confidence that it's ok to be different if that means being true to who you are.

He is one of the most amazing human beings that I know and his sexuality is just a part of it that adds more colour to his personality. His journey through this has educated all of us as a family, not just about sexuality but acceptance that you are who you are and while your sexuality does not define you...denial of it can.

I believe the issues need to be part of a much wider debate, while no one condones bullying in any form, neither would I like to see the majority of children being coerced, and some might say being bullied into believing that gender is mutable. Promoting gender fluidity is likely to make children confused and distressed, and it is more than likely at some point in the future that denying or questioning gender fluidity will become a hate crime. I believe here in Ireland, some are still trying to navigate our way through divorce, gay marriage and lone parenthood

OK, these are my own opinions only but I'm quite well read on this subject for what it's worth.

I'll start with hermaphrodites, they are neither male nor female at birth so my opinion is that if it's medically safe to do so any gender assignment surgery should be left until puberty shows a swing in one direction or the other or the person is old enough to decide (if they want to change at all), this is very rare however.

As for men who decide that they would prefer "girly" things and feel they would be happier living as a woman or relate more to females than men and feminine rather than masculine this doesn't make them suddenly women! If you truly believe that you were born in the wrong body you have a mental disorder (no stigma, depression is a mental disorder). The cure for this may be reassignment but this is simply painting over the cracks and the Trans suicide rate is unfortunately 40%.

I hear a lot that gender if fluid, that it's different for everyone and no two are the same etc. What we are talking about here is personality, not gender.

Men and women require different things medically in some cases, and changing your genitals with surgery and causing a deliberate hormone imbalance to create the illusion of the opposite gender does not change what you are at a cellular level.

If you want to live as a the opposite gender go nuts and be proud of your personality because everyone is beautiful but saying it doesn't make it so.

As for sexuality, fuck anyone and everyone it's all love in my book!
