The point is that you're aware of the risks and know what to do.

Good luck with the inspector!

Thanks all for the help. It has been yrs since i I had to deal with this sort of problem. But it's part of the job. Better get it all in order while i have the chance instead of been asked to hand them over on the sport one day. As for healt&safety gone to far. Some sites you have a tool box talk every morning before you start .. and no it not about tools or box's. It crazy the amount of paper work you need to fill out before you start your days work sometimes I think I was better working for someone else. Let them have the head ache

Every body is the same all firms have to get a safety statement . You have to do a safety course and get the safe pass card . I worked in sites and you could never get on unless you had all these done .

where the wild roses grow

You should have a company safety statement then a site specific method statement or/and a SPA

After which you will likely need an array of permits hot works, heights, ladder, dig, roof, confined space... and so on and on and on.

Its the way forward

You must only be back in the game if this is news to you !

I've been lucky avoid all this kind of paperwork for years doing fairly dangerous construction work. Roofing, tree felling, (had to stop with wiring as it became a crime) etc. How? By acting and appearing to act as the safest fecker in town. And other methods

You'll pull a generic method statement from the HSA web site. Safety statement is a more specific beast so you might want to think of employing the services of a safety consultant.

Ah for fucks sake. This came as a suprise to you that you need this?

I shudder to think what else you haven't done.

The idea of tool box talks is for workers to air problems they having and be given information they need to do their job.

Method statements are to make you stop and think about what you are about to do rather than just wing it

I do risk assessments and method statements on a weekly basis, once you get a template done it doesn't change too much from site to site. Pain in my ass but has to be done nowadays. but the kicker is I'd be the first to break a rule but the h&s people don't care as their arses are covered

Farming and fishing are hard to police,or control.....its a culture thing trying to get people to change what they have done for years....I see the most sensible of people not bothering with the basics.....hate it when i see young lads been told (you will be all right we always did it like that).....just a rant from me

Might be worth checking HSE or CITB website in the North. I heard they had developed an App for small companies or one man bands to quickly complete details of the job for domestic projects. You might be able to adapt it for working in the south.

A town near you

If you are a subcontractor all the relevant documents you need to submit should have been asked for. Also depends on the nature of your work.
