What are some of the weird and wacky excuses used for a day off work? or maybe their are some genuine reasons for having a duvet day, like the ghosts in my house kept me up all night

Has anyone used the dead relation..be honest

Never used a dead relative but I've pulled the odd sicky in my time, hanging your head off the edge of the bed makes you sound a lot worse

I can't come into work today, I'm sick.

How sick are you?

I'm in bed with my sister

Never done it of course but apparently, winning Sam, hurricanes named after southern street walkers,(its a bit windy) any sporting triumph no matter how small, hangovers and not being bothered are all excuses.

When translated into Irish they all are a phone call saying

"I'm sick, think I ate something funny, probably dodgy takeaway" most common excuse for the above I heard.

Used to work with a girl who rang into work to say her parents died so she wouldn't be in for a few day... obviously she never returned to work after a manager went to her house to pay his respects her mother answered the door

Know two guys who were on way to work together on the buildings til they heard it was Shakespeare's anniversary so they couldn't let the day pass without raising a glass to him

Same two guys were practically illiterate and vaguely knew of this Shakespeare guy

I worked with a guy who rang in and said

Wont be in as my mum is dead.

Once the foremen pulled him and said,

Thats the 3rd time you claimed your mother died in the last two years.

Your man says,

My mother died 10 year ago at this stage, I just thought id tell you.
