Planning the annual Xmas drinks for the 2nd of December this as usual will be an informal affair and about 100 people in a reserved area in a bar/club. Totally free

There's an option for a function room in a hotel but that would come with a cost

What do fabbers prefer?

Function room is good idea but might be idea to get the money up front. To eliminate the no shows.

`

The discreet nature of any pre payment system might have to be explained to people I'd suggest. A pre payment situation may stop some going, using a good system of payment may reduce those nervous types (for whatever their reasons).

Incidentally I prefer the function room idea myself. But don't put too many tables and chairs in the space or people don't mingle. I've seen that happen more often in function rooms than clubs or pubs

Paypal can be discreet if needed for any of nervous newbies. I dont see that being a big deal. I do agree with the tables and chairs though, somewhere with high tables is usually a good option even.

I agree with function room also! Love the freedom of being able to roam and grope at will (with permission of course!) without the fear of groping an innocent member of the public

High tables and reduced seating is a great idea! Definitely makes mingling a lot easier

You've been in the social/M&G organising game as long as I've been on the Dublin scene. No one would have a problem with you requesting pre payment for one of your events. It would also prevent your block list from expanding due to no shows.

Best of luck, we are sure you'll all have a ball.

I'd be up for chipping in for a function room, more "exclusive" perhaps?

Also makes it easier to get with someone and no one batting an eyelid much.

There are one or two I would be looking to snog the face off like, and they know who they are.

Function room would be better with the cost divided by ticket numbers . Eg €5 a head 100 tickets = €500 if it costs more just increase the ticket price to match .mind you it would be wise to get the money up front gets rid of the no shows plus you know exactly how many are going

"so is this like all Xmas parties where you're guaranteed to have at least 2 people getting it on?

This isn't a party it's Xmas drinks. But I assume that some people might hit it off ah laid come on. surely it's more then just a drink

No it really is just a group of us all drinking dancing and talking it's in public so it's unlikely to be an orgy what ever people do afterwards is their business "

How would I know who's attending when I haven't taken names yet. But let's be honest I doubt you'll be attending.
