My favourite was a 3hr documentary about Attila the Hun

There was so many interesting facts about him

For instance the Dracula stories originated because Attila gave his cousin Vladimir the Impaler Transelvania and Vladimir believed drinking the blood of virgins would give him eternal youth

March of the penguins is fabulous!

Even have a framed picture of the wee buggers marching hung up.

Planet Earth documentary series is another worth a wee gander.

Like so many people, I grew up (somewhat) listening to Sir David Attenborough narrating.

The American Civil War by Ken Burns was a magnificent series. It also featured the voice of Morgan Freeman as well as many others. It featured a lot of incredible photographs from the war as well as diaries and journals belonging to soldiers and families on both sides. Really outstanding stuff.

i really enjoyed "making a murder"

i like a lot of documentaries but cant say i'd know the names of most of them. struggling to name one here besides the above but i like ones to do with space.

ones that are serious and ones that go off on tangents of what if or theorizing about things like black holes and time travel for instance. (one had a great bit about how you could in theory travel forward in time but never backwards based on the speed of light and how time slows down the closer you get)

i also find documentaries on the legalization and illegal growers of marijuana interesting. like how its legal to grow and sell on a state level but is still illegal federally. so your local cop could buy off you regularly but if the FBI decided to they could try put you away for multiple life sentences.

ranting a little but anyway

Is it Icarus. About the Russian government sponsored doping?

Because the sport as a whole is dirty. It's not like he was the one cheating and winning. Everyone was cheating. He was just the best at it. They were putting electric motors inside the frames even.

He was never caught. 500 tests and not one did he fail.

He only got found out because his team mates were pressured by the fbi and threatened with prosecution unless they flipped on him. Then they would go unpunished. So basically they let a whole group away with doing what he was doing just to get him.

I think I saw somewhere that you'd have to go back 24 places to find somebody that didn't test positive at some point.

Favourite one would be 'jiro dreams of sushi'.

A 90 yr old guy who dedicated his life to sushi. The on 3 Michelin stared sushi counter .... 6 or 8 seats only in tokyo.

Its insane .... his son is 60 and still training.

You gotta love the passion and drive from someone like that

along the same lines,

TT3d: Closer to the edge, or ROAD are both great bike ones.

or for anyone with a passion for cars/bikes,

Love The Beast is very very good.

shows exactly what it means and how a person can actually love their pride and joy. (not in a fab way )
