Just a quick question.

I was in contact with a couple recently who were articulate and charming and seemed pretty hot from the couple of photos I could see.

They asked for a face picture, I asked them for a little time to get to know each other and suss each other out before identifying ourselves (we're from the same town). They asked a couple of times for face pics and then when they got one it was all guns blazing, they wanted a social meet

Long story short when I asked them to reciprocate they flat out refused to send a picture. Even one up to neck height.

Now I'm at a loss here. They find me attractive which is extremely flattering etc but I've no idea what they look like whatsoever. So I'm expected to wonder in to a cafe for coffee with people I've never seen, with no way of identifying them and this would be the first time I ever seen them.

Now, am I being obtuse or is sexual attraction the single most important consideration when arranging a meet?

What would have happened had I got there and I wasn't attracted to them? Surely rejection would be easier handled when there's still some anonymity instead of being let down there and then.

Their only justification for not sending a photo was "we don't send facial pics to single males". As if there's a single male meeting where we all get together and compare notes.

Now, I have to say. From the little we talked they seemed very up front and genuine and didn't appear to be pic collectors. I'm just curious if this is a rule many couples enforce or if this particular couple is just ultra-cautious bordering on paranoia?

I can only speculate they would be worried that you may not be discreet with the pic? With you being new and all. If your not comfortable with a blind date then don't do it though

I understand that discretion is paramount however it seems fairly unreasonable to expect me to identify myself and send pics only to be blanked and told to forget it when I asked them to reciprocate even for my own peace of mind.

Is this a common occurrence? Is it the way things are done and I'm not up to speed or something?

Hey man.... i cant speak for everyone but on my old profile i had similiar happen to me, it was all down to pic hunters that were after one thing only, face pics... be it to use as a fake profile or just in general to see what you look like and as soon as they get it, either back off as they may of seen you about or you aint up to their "standards", again my own experiences so cant speak for evrryone on here but hopefully perhaps its something simple

Just take a chance what is the worst that can happen. Everybody has some kind of logic about face pics right or wrong it is there choice.

They have verifications etc showing they're genuine but someone being genuine isn't my number one concern. They seem like nice people if just really demanding. Though I wish them all the best. They were very decent to me and were clear about everything up till that point

You have just learned a valuable lesson.

When asked for face pics the reply is always "I'm willing to send, if I get them in return"

this leads to four outcomes:

1. they'll refuse, so no pics are swapped

2. they'll agree and pics are swapped

3. there'll be a stalemate as either party wont want to "go first" for fear of being ghosted.

4. they'll lie and ghost you as soon as they get your pic.

It's up to you to use your gut feeling as to which outcome is likely.

I think it is unfair of them to ask you for a pic and they were always unwilling to share. I have developed a rule for myself on face pics. If I msg first I send first, if someone else msgs first they send first. If I send and get excuses for no face pic being returned I just move on. From experience people unwilling to trust you after you trusted them are not worth time.

That was my point. In any case it's best just to leave it and let both parties enjoy their time on fab. I have to point out they weren't rude or ignorant or anything, they just weren't willing to show me who I'd be meeting. Which seems odd, cause if I really wanted to expose them surely in person would have been the most efficient way lol.

However it's only a coffee meet, you're from the same town so you don't have to travel far, they seem to be genuine to you so what's holding you back risking the coffee meet? If you don't like them no harm done. I learned that I can drink a coffee in less than 5 minutes if I have to.

Thanks for all your advice folks. They have now went and blocked my profile, so that shows the calibre of people I was dealing with.

We messaged for two weeks back and forth and once they got their photo they decided to take it and run.

If anyone is interested in avoiding this profile just gimme a mail and I'll fill you in.

Again, thanks for the feedback. I haven't been here long but im slowly but surely getting to grips with telling who are bullshitting picture collectors and who are genuine. Unfortunately this time I got it wrong lol

and taking things like this into the open forum I can see why they'd end up blocking ye though... even if somebody does send a face pic back it doesn't always mean its their face....I always find people are better looking in real life anyway, nothing wrong with blind meets...and it means you're in suspense until you get there..

We once had a single male screenshot Mrs face pic and use it as his public profile pic and used our fab name in his update at the same time .. needless to say we were in panic mode.. Adim didn't remove it till the following day and for the life of us we can't understand how it was approved to a single male profile in the first place .... We therefore understand why some people hold back on sending face pics...

It's simple really set ur self a rule if u ask for a face pic send one with the request, the reverse being the same If they ask they send first. I use this rule unless we are chatting a bit and I feel comfortable to send them a face pic but I will always state in that senerio I chose to sent it and it's up to them to recipocrat or not
