Music is such a wonderful vice. Early 40's here, we all remember the erection section at the nightclubs which are sadly no longer with us. We had the 80's rock ballads, blokes with makeup and perms. Dance, rave, mod, new wave.

I can associate so much of the old music I hear to a place and time, to the people I was with, happy times, sad times.

We've all been there. Isn't it just wonderful in fairness.

Motley Crue were my favourite band growing up but also loved the first Tracy Chapman album. Crazy right. Early 40's now. Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Eva Cassidy, The Cure. I'm an open book but you know you hear a song on the radio and it brings back memories. Heard Springsteen's Racing In The Street recently. It's way before my time in terms of understanding music but it brought me back to my dad returning from the Leb in the early 80"s. Wonderful memories. We buried him a few years ago and played The Contender by Jimmy McCarthy. His favourite song. Another connection.

Kilkee during the summer. Kicking football beside the beach. Stereo blasting out in the corner trying to impress the ladies.

Petrol station I worked in during summer, Yamaha boombox with 3 huge speakers in front, in the shed between the pumps. Customers had to shout to tell me what they wanted over the rock and heavy metal blasting out

Not only the metal. Whitesnake, Skid Row, Bon Jovi, Extreme, Scorpions, even Alice Cooper. The power ballads were huge. When was the last time you went to a club and heard one of those classics.

Man I had Blackie Lawless on my maths book in school. You remembered all the abbreviations for WASP. I was getting suspended if I didn't get rid of Blackie.

I've seen Whitesnake, ACDC and Metallica live. I'm bald as a baby's arse and so a most of my friends. If it was early 90's we'd rock the hair. Unfortunately fr time caught up with us but those bands rarely came here back then.

I was going to Motley Crue in London back in 88. They cancelled the European tour. I was so disappointed but it's the only reason they are still alive.
