Why some don't turn up to socials

Why do people ask for invites and up to the last minute say they will be attending and then not turn up.. Is it a lack of confidence...

Probably yes could also be they never intended to go in the first place but wanted to know if they'd get an invite.

I think its probaly that alright.. heard men are worse for it( im awful spreading that unfounded fact i know lol) its scary as ive done it many a time myself when i was going as a single, but once there it was great and well worth it.

I think a lot chicken out in going on their own maybe it is just nerves and then a lot is just talk they have no intention of going.
