"When you're singing you're not fighting what is your most favourite Irish folk song or traditional Irish song?? " Way way way too many to pick just one... Two that are in my head at the moment are Mary from Dungloe by the Emmet Spiceland group and a Scottish one, Fear a bhata by the Corrie folk trio with Paddie Bell.

Almost anything by Luke sounds good. " Scorn not his serenity brings a tear to my eye...just the one eye the other one is heartless! Also not really the right genre but Mary Coughlans version of I would rather go blind is brilliant. Years ago I ended up back stage drinking champers with Mary Black and the band kicked off a fantastic session. Not my usual taste in music but it was brilliant. Black is the colour is another great one that springs to mind Madame Boo

Pretty much the same songs and the same singers were doing the rounds in Ireland, the north of England and Scotland. " Very true especially! Ok let's open the forum to all of the above . One of my favourites is The night visiting song.

Some of the old céilí bands used to sing it. Jesus it was woeful.
