What was it last time? Do you have a full license? Is that fully comprehensive? I'm with AA, Aviva are my current insurers, and mine is under €700 fully comprehensive for me. Think the car is 1.1.

Try bank of Ireland. If you have an account they give you 25% off and another 10% for house insurance. I got my quote off 123 and they wanted 1175 I got it for 691

I am driving for over 20 years with a full clean licence. Never a point, crash or otherwise but have had a break in my insurance. Was told that If I loose my no claims bonus that my insurance jumps from 630 to 2,200!!!

Bloody joke.

Shop around. Mine jumped up by €1000 and I shopped around and got it two hundred euro cheaper than what I paid last year. When my insurance company rang me to confirm that I was going ahead with the increase premium. I said no I'm not, I've got it elsewhere cheaper than last years premium. They said they would match it and told them it was too late for that shite and to stick it up their hole.

Ireland and UK where they insure the driver not the property and even though you pay insurance you can't not claim as if you do your insurance will go up by the price of the claim and 10% extra for good luck ! Let's start a stop the insurance companies rubbery movement!!!! They took our jobs

I think shopping around is the only answer. You will hopefully get a realistic quote. 5 grand is a disgraceful quote

All quotes vary from company to company daily ..sometimes even during the day...definitely shop around...

They are all loading premiums on older cars lately which is a joke (whats the nct for ffs).

Brokers are good bet at times..

Best of luck with it

NCB protection is just another scam on the insurance companies don't fall for this . The moment you claim you get that claim on your record for that year you will find many insurance company don't quote you then because you have a claim and you insurance will be hiked

I got a new car last week and saw my insurance fall. It's a 150 BHP VW. More safety features was the reason the broker gave me.

Shop around OP. Try Sheridan's in Ross.
