Air BnB

north cork

This topic is probably talked to death at this stage but we are only recently back on site so will throw it up anyway.

So this is our predicament.

Hotel in cork for next weekend is €450 for one night.

So that's out of the question.

We've never used Air b&b but we've found a room for €50.

Is there a catch?

Usually if something is too good to be true then it usually is. Any pointers or pros and cons?

Depends what you want the room for.......normally shared accommodation with the family or others so if your thinking a fab play meet then no i wouldnt recommend it but if its just somewhere to sleep go for it

All the reviews seem good to be fair and it even says each additional person sleeping is €5.

Why am i only trying Air bnb now .

Checkout time is often 10am - but I'm sure you won't mind that considering the saving

Let us know how you get on

Some of these rooms are in someone elses house where you are litterly getting a room, with a shared bathroom.

It can feel a bit weird if you have intentions on having a play, knowing the owner is next door or downstairs.

I would only ever go for the ones where you have the whole place to yourself, even if it is a bit more expensive.

You can pick an option on airbnb to rent the entire house/apt. That way only properties where the whole space is for rent come up in your search and there's no sharing.

Airbnb is the way to go, used it a lot, mostly abroad though, no complaints yet.

Air b&b is great. Only thing to watch out for is that you're not to close to person you are renting the property from. Case in point was myself and a fellow fabber on air b&b rented a full apartment. Turns out apartment was the basement to the house. So think noise folks!! But all in all top job

Hi. I always use airBnB. they are amazing value and usually a great location too. Check the reviews. If they are okay, you're onto a good thing.

Query everything the listed owner has stated is my advice. A bunch of us had a house booked in kilkenny for this weekend. It turned out the owners parents lived in an annexe attached to the house which he didnt state on the listing. His listing also stated that extra people were welcome at no extra charge which wasnt the case and when it was queried, he said no extra people were allowed.

We used that as a get out clause and got a full refund and booked another property elsewhere for this weekend

If airbnb property owners want your buisness, they ll be only too happy to answer any concerns or questions you have.

Btw Op...we got a 4 bedroomed house for 3 nights for 8 people for the same price as your one night hotel quote. Maybe its worth searching to do what we did.

Best of luck

I offer Airbnb.

Every host can offer different things..so be careful that you check what you want is what is offered.

€50 is cheap. Be careful. Could be a dive in tough part of town. You get what you pay for with airbnb. I've used them a lot when abroad

Its not exactly the best part of town nor is it the worst.

Luckily i work in the area so i know a little. Did have a sneak view of the outside of it today and it looks secure.

Wait until i tell Eve that we are sleeping in someone's house

"Ah i know him from work love, sound bloke so let's leave him €60 as a thanks"

Wish me luck
