Favourite comedian and why ?

My favourite at the moment is George Carlin . Love watching his old stuff on youtube. He had a fantastic insightful mind and never hdld back on amy subject he wanted to bring to the audiences attention.

A woderful array of subjects everything from American culture, society, religion, politics, psychology, philosophy, profanity, everyday life, nihilism, misanthropy, recreational drug use, language, mass media, popular culture, current events, death, masculinity, family, parenting, race relations, old age he gave his views on. Although he died in 2008 much of what he spoke about is more relevant today than it has ever been. I can't help but imagine what he would have made of the Trump presidency or "smart"phones dumbing down society.

I think comedians, well certainly Carlin did have a brilliant way of challenging what society views as normal and hopefully gives the viewer at lease pause for thought in their own thought process.

"Pride should be reserved for something you achieve or obtain on your own, not something that happens by accident of birth. Being Irish isn't a skill... it's a fucking genetic accident. You wouldn't say I'm proud to be 5'11"; I'm proud to have a pre-disposition for colon cancer"

George Carlin

Love it!

Chris Pratt because Chris Pratt, and also because Chris Pratt.

Did i mention Chris Pratt ?

(The main reason is the American show "Parks and Recreation" which is awesome by the way, so if you haven't watch that, stop everything and start now!!)

Jason Bryne

Madcap but had hilarious self deprecating style. I almost lost the ability to breathe during one of his shows.

But Billy Connolly has to be my all time favourite. Always unique and makes everything things incredibly funny.

Bill Hicks was another incredible comedian that again I would love to hear his perspective on todays world. Richard Pryor would have been another that I eould have admiration for.

Dunboyne & Dublin

Billy Connolly, excluding the last 5yrs. A legend and one of the best observers of ordinary life ever. More great material over the years than any other. Saw him in Hammersmith Odeon do a 3hr show. My jaw hurt for a week afterwards from so much laughing.

Irish - Tommy Tiernan

English - Mickey Flanagan

I love comedians that push boundaries a bit

Agree with Op... George Carlin is probably the best comedian ever and decades ahead of his time with his political views..

Aidan Killian is my favourite Irish comedian simply for originality. Saw him a few years ago...
