Anyone been to see it yet?

I'm going regardless and hopefully to the IMAX in Parnell St but just wanted to know Fabbers opinions, from those that have seen it, preferably.

It's one of those films I've avoided media coverage and the like on purpose so I can see it without any opinions dragging it down. Can't wait to see it

Here's How 'Alien: Covenant' Connects to 'Prometheus' IMDb synopsis

399 days ago | MovieWeb

Back in November, 20th Century Fox confirmed a rumor that their sequel to 2012's Prometheus will now be entitled Alien: Covenant. This new adventure, which was given an August 4, 2017 release date last month, has been confirmed as the first movie in a new trilogy, which will eventually connect to director Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi classic Alien. We have always known that this new movie will connect to Prometheus as well. Earlier today, Bloody-Disgusting discovered a new photo from the set that offers visual proof of this connection.

The photo came from an Instagram account belonging to Charlie Tong, which was tagged as being taken at Fox Studios Australia, where production will begin later this month, according to a report from February. The photo features one of the "giant alien heads" that were featured in Prometheus, in the Engineers' secret temple. Here's what author Stephen Messing had to say about these massive heads,

Yes, it supposedly sits after Prometheus but before Alien.

Looking forward to having a wee gander. Will have to watch Prometheus yet again.

Not sure I agree with the engineers creating the evil wee buggers.

Be fabulous to see more from the predator series.

I love the alien movies but I'm not sure my nerves can take watching it in a dark cinema.. I'd need to have my legs up so they can't get me..

I'm such a chicken. I'd be hyped up even before it started!!

Having said that.. we'll probably go see it at the weekend in the imax in dublin.

I'll be the one with the huge eyes..

I quite enjoyed it but it's not a great film. Obviously being a Ridley Scott film it looks superb and there are some great set-pieces. However, it lacks the tension and shock factor of Alien and the balls-to-the-wall action of Aliens. Fassbender is superb but he and others have to struggle with some pretentious dialogue.

Worth a watch if you're a big fan of the series or sci-fi generally. It's a better movie than Prometheus but not a patch on the first 2 in the series.

I thought it was poor. Very poor. Many reviewers commenting that it made up for Prometheus. It's worse than Prometheus.

Looks great but bottom line is it was boring.

Seen it and thought it was rubbish. Terrible script, bland characters making stupid decisions, not in the least bit scary, unintentionally funny at times (I laughed out loud at the "I'll do the fingering" line), and just a retread of the earlier, better films. I thought I would see something different....just the same old, same old.

I loved Alien and Aliens but this was just a dreadful film.

Loved him in it but the film would've been 1,000 times better if he'd beaten the xenomorph to death with a baseball bat.

I loved the first two (and the assembly cut of Alien 3) but they have really squeezed the life out of this franchise. I'm just so sick of films that have no need to exist and dilute the legacy of that has gone before. Alien was about as prefect as a film can be, shoulda just left it at that.
